Athletes from the USA, that are going to the olympics have been warned, not asked, not to display the american flag while they are there. It's may cause a problem. I completely agree with this, in fact lets take it a step futher. Let's not show any of our athletes or tourist, at the PC olympic. I say this even when the the Greek's are going to have summer games in winter they are so far behind. I mean why should we go there everyone hates us.
Maybe if America isn't in the summers games turned PC, the lesser countries could get a medal.

Err actualy Galadon it because their worried that someones going to start taking pot shots at them. There have been more than a few warnings
Its more of a 'please don't put up targets for the bad guys' request.

Let's see here... the world hates the US because they think we're elietists and separatists and only interested in events outside our borders when they directly affect us or we think we can make money off of it. So of course the answer is not to attend the world's greatest effort at peace and unity for the first time in god knows how many years (ever?). Oh, that won't make people think the US is elietist and separatist, no...

Actualy the world will just call you all cowards who were alot of talk but hid under the stairs at the first sign of trouble.
Or atleast that was the responce from the local papers when it was annonced the US might not show due to terrorist threats.
To be fair the USA has pissed off a hell of alot of people lately and the events organisers are realy just asking you not to give those people a big target to aim at. I see why you would be annoyed but they didn't say not to carry a flag, they mearly warned that there would be a risk to do so. This way if anything does happen they warned you and cannot be blamed.

Galadon seems to think that the rest of the world will miss us if we don't show up, as if we're punishing them with our absence. Sounds to me like a little kid who hides in his room with the "I don't have to take this! I'm leaving!!" attitude and who expects everybody to mourn when he leaves the room. Most countries probably won't care one way or the other. All that pulling out of the Olympics will do is make us look like cowards at the least, as Challenger said. It's a no-win situation, but if you ask me not going will be the greater err in the long run.

Ah I was waiting for that little kid version. . It wasn't me who came up with the idea it was some of the athletes themselves. And not showing a flag, do you think that going to stop a terrorist. I can see where Merkuri is going. Everyone gets together and does one big group hug at the olympics. Do you think that french judge that crooked will be back. The reason the US is making people angry is we are getting rid of terrorist. Are the Greek going to be ready or just say, "Hey we warned them their's nothing we can do." And were separatist, interesting. Ok let's be separatist. Everyone who is not a citizen get out now. No one from any country can use our advanced medical services, because your socialized medical isn't good enough. Cut off all financial aid to the many of countries that get it now. Cut off all military aid to other countries that get it now. The UN will now longer be able to call on the US to slove it's failed miitary operations. Israel would cease to exist without support from th US. Terrorist would ran freely around the world killing anyone they pleased, without any opposition. Just like in the Clinton years. France, Germany and can go back to getting back room illegal deals from dictators. No more using the military to feed the poor starving kids. Yes we really are separatist. If an American (gasp) wins something at the olympics what are they going to do. replace the flag with a sign "We don't want to make you mad Mr. Terrorist."

You really think the US stopping all of that is going to make us clamour for them back?
You seem to estimate the number of people that would celebrate that event. I would probably been one of them. The United States has been the self-righteous and self-serving bully for far too long.

Your under the impression I care what they think, remember were the evil ones. The olympics have always been political. What's next, "oh don't say USA or America people might get offened." They are absurd for even saying it. How many crooked french judges are going to be there this year.

Hum how to reply without pissing off several people I like.
Ok lets cut to the chase Galadon the rest of the world isn't pissed off that your killing terrorists there pissed off at your methods.
They're a little mithed that alot of Americans seem to believe the war on terror started on September 11th, because Britain, Spain and Israel amung others have been fighting it since WWII and beyond.
The visible action so far has been to bomb Afganistan flat and to do the same to Iraq (a country with no terrorist links) Ask Israel just how effective cruise missiles are at dealing with terrorists. Now it took decades but look what talking did in Ireland, ok it wasn't clean alot of people died but we do finaly have peace and aside from the travisty of releasing the bombers from prison both sides are mostly satisfied.
Please don't assume I'm a pacafist or anything. I don't like to fight but I won't run if I'm forced to fight, I was actualy in favor of Afganistan even if a blind folded fool could have done a better job of running it than the generals in charge did. But the Iraq war......asside from a bastard in charge what did the country do to deserve what happened to it. Yes getting rid of Saddam was a good idea but war wasn't the way to do it and it wasn't even why the USA went in. We all know it was the oil Bush was after otherwise what was there for him.
However the number one reason the war in Iraq pissed off the patriotic British was this. It complettly buggered our national picture of ourselves. After WWII with a few exceptions we've only engaged in war as peacekeepers or liberators. We've been the good guys fighting the bad guys. However here we're the evil invaders, thats very hard to stomach for a country that prides itself on standing up for those in need. (A little naive and ignoring a large amount of our colonial history I know so please don't point that out) We won but how can you take pride in winning when you know that if you were a neutral observer you would have been supporting the otherside. All we've got to be glad is not many of our lads died.
The majority of England didn't want this war and believe America dragged us into it tarnishing our reputation in the process.

I agree, however a lot of people (at least I know), realize that Britain was dragged more or less kicking and screaming into the war by Tony Blair, so you can garner soem sympathy, whereas you'll be hard pressed to find similar sympathies for America.

And like there's NEVER been any crooked AMERICAN judges at the olympics. He he he. People are very quick to forget things I see. Ask the Koreans what they thought of the American speed skating judges. Ha Ha Ha.
Oh, but it is patently impossible for an AMERICAN judge to be crooked. America is now the home of all that is good in the world. IT is impossible for an American to be wrong anymore. Gimme a break. Learn some history, take a class or two and please remove your lips from the buttocks of the Republican Party.

Do the Olympics really matter that much? It's just an athletic competition.
Hey Galadon, ever see the old Universal Studios Frankenstein movie directed by James Whale with Boris Karloff playing the monster? Before the storyline begins there's a bit where a guy comes out on a stage in front of a curtain and gives a Word of Friendly Warning that the following movie is going to be scary.
That's what this was too. A word of friendly warning.
Yeah you can go play in traffic or paint a target on your back, but it is a gesture of true friendship to point out the danger.

And how many other countries got this friendly warning. People are going to have to wake up to the fact that terrorist don't care where your from.
Answer this question. Since 9/11 how many terrorist attacks have happened in America? It's not because the terrorist have gone away.
The Idea that there are no politics in the olympics is absurd. It's always used as political tool.
