Liberals, open minded, tolerate of others, right

Washington DC,--The Independent Women's Forum today denounced as blatantly racist several editorial cartoons featuring Dr. Condoleezza Rice, National Security Advisor and President Bush's nominee for Secretary of State. These cartoons clearly draw upon centuries of deep-rooted, wicked and indefensible portrayals of black women.

"The depiction of Dr. Rice by Jeff Danziger, Pat Oliphant and Gary Trudeau as an ebonics speaking, big-lipped, black mammy who just loves her 'massa' is a disturbing trend in editorial cartoons," said Michelle D. Bernard, senior vice president of the Independent Women's Forum. "These cartoons take the the racism of the liberals who profess respect and adoration of black Americans to a new level. It is revolting."

Danziger, Oliphant and Trudeau, whose editorial cartoons are very popular in the United States, are also renowned all over the world.

"The most powerful woman in the United States is young, gifted and black. Given our nation's history of race-based slavery, the ensuing civil rights movement and our continual battle against race and sex based discrimination, every citizen in our nation should take pride in Dr. Rice's accomplishments," said Bernard. "She is a representation of America's past and future all at once. One must ask where is the outrage of the nation's civil rights leadship, feminist organization, and the so-called liberals who only seem to embrace black America in election year?"

Dr. Rice was th first woman ever appointed a Natioal Security Advisor . After Secretary of State Colin Powell, Dr. Rice will be the second black American to hold both post," said Beard. "These cartoons are decidedly unfunny."

People are seeing what I known for years, the true face of liberals.

Where are the black leaders? (yeah right) Well since you don't hear to many speaking up, it shows where they really stand.

But come on now you can do or say anything to a conservated right. Looks like the liberals are getting ready for 2008, I'm sure they don't need the south or the black vote to win.

Because a few cartoonists use a racist depiction of Condi you call all Liberals racist? I happen to respect Ms. Rice even if I don't always agree with her, and if I had seen such cartoons I'd be screaming about them just as much as you are.

It may be horrible, but you're accomplishing nothing by blaming it on all Liberals, who historically have supported and have been supported by minority populations such as African-Americans. One (or three) people's opinions do not necessarily reflect that of the group.

Let me see one racist cartoonist would be a liberal, meaning one.

three racist cartoonist would be liberals, more than one.

Fine, if Gary Trudeau what to pretend he's not a liberal fine. But his cartoons have a left lending meanings.

Liberals have support minorties, really, or just given them lip service in a election year.

Now take a look at what you said Hussar and what the article said. Three people were named as racist cartoonist, how by the way have a history of liberal cartoons. They made a rather easy to see racist cartoon.

Now if conservative cartoonists did the same thing what would happen.

Is there a single moment of your life that is not devoted to partisan politics Gal? Gary Trudeau is most certainly not a liberal. He made fun of Clinton when Clinton was in office and now he makes fun of Bush. Thus, it's called satire. Strange but true that people are capable of seeing the world in more than a single railroad way and have this amazing ability to laugh at both sides.

Then again, conservatives can't do that. So I guess that makes Trudeau a liberal after all. Fair enough.

Your point, such as it is, is that liberals are as racist as conservatives in America. My point is that just because a couple of satirists, WHO AREN'T EVEN LIBERALS, make racist cartoons, doesn't make liberals racist.

You wanna start chucking dirt at the other side, you might wanna make sure your own backyard is a whole lot cleaner than it is.

From what I heard from a few liberals here and there, conservatives all ready are the racist bunch, at least that's what they keep screaming. But I forget anyone on the left who makes a racist cartoon about any conservative isn't a racist.

I can't defend the characterization of an upper class, educated black woman as a stereorypical cartoon mammy as anything other than racist.


It'd probably be fair for fellow blacks to call Condoleeza Rice an Oreo (black on the outside, white on the inside), but it is extremely unfair for white cartoonists to portray her as a cartoon mammy.


On the other hand, it isn't an issue worth getting your hackles raised over. The cutting or elimination of Affirmaitive Action is.

You are are under the impression I'm all upset about this, far from it. The next time the self appointed black leaders scream about racism, and they will. We will point back to this and ask why didn't you say anything here, because she is conservative. You don't have to answer I have talk to many liberals who believe this.

The point isn't that it's a racist cartoon, It is. It's because it was written about a conservative, and the black leadership could care less because it doesn't fall in their liberal agenda.

One thing I have noticed in your postings, is your way of thinking Galadon, is that on ANY subject, its the liberals always at fault. And you lump ANYONE who does not agree with you as such. That is very narrow minded thinking.

Not really, I don't lump everyone in the wrong slot. I happen to like hearing from James Carvell. He calls himself a liberal and an intelligent liberal.
