I think Dean Koontz "Lighting" is a good book. I also LOVE Anne Rice and John Saul also!
~Rowan sits in her favorite spot all curled up, deeply engrossed in a good novel~ ;D

I love Dean Koontz - for that matter I prefer his works to Stephen King (who IMHO is vastly overrated)
The one 'flaw' I find in Koontz - and that I think is more the fault of his publisher than the author; is the book titles!!! (Almost all one word titles I have a hard time remembering which name goes with which book).
Unfortunately it means I often do not buy his books when I see them (not sure if I have read it or no) Not just me I have heard others complain of the same problem.....

Well, since we're going with horror... I have to go with H.P. Lovecraft. He can't do a climax worth a shiznit, be he is MASTERFUL at building suspense and building atmosphere. The whole Cthulu mythos is really fascinating as well, really, it's more interesting than it is scary

I haven't read any H.P. Lovecraft. I'll have to check him out, and I do agree about Dean Koontz and his book titles. Usually I'll read summary of what the story is about and then I'll know if I read it or not. If you like Dean Koontz then you should check out John Saul too. His book "House of Thunder" and "Nathaniel" were really excellent reads. ;D

That's one of the great Chinese classics, isn't it? I know they based the Dynasty Warriors game off of it, and many more besides.

Yep. Long book and the recent translations gloss over a lot of the more dragging parts, but its still worth a good read.
Other than that, I'm gonna have to go with either Starship Troopers or Stranger in a Strange Land.

I'm currently reading Iain M. Banks' "The Player of Games" - IMHO his best SF novel. It's excellent for all - well, all players of games and recommended heartly.
Oh, and try reading "The Wasp Factory" by the same author... it'll freak you out.
