Hell no reason why we can't have both, no? Forgot, must add IMHO when I make a judgement. Then again, I actually havent read his empire series. Well that's a good point, Shura. There is no real reason to choose between two good fantasy authors, when you can read both of them! P.S.That's what I am doing anyway, although I have to wait for new books of their.

By the way, if you really like various intrigues and power struggles, I really advice you to read Raymond Feist's trilogy about Empire of Tsuranuani. Apart from having some rather interesting intridues (the first of the books "Daughter of the Empire" could really be used as guide about how to get power and influence, dispatching your enemies in the process), it is very interesting, because it allows to look at the Riftwar from the other side of the conflict. For me, it was rather interesting to see Riftwar from the points of view of the both warring sides.

Though currently reading Brook's second Shannara series, I definately check that out. Libraries round here aren't up to much though. I do too much fantasy reading at a time when I should be studying Wuthering Heights anway, but what the hell.

Has anyone read any of Dragonlance and if they have what are their thoughts?? Well, first of all, I would like to mention, that one of Dragonlance books ("Dragons of the Winter Night", to be precise) was the first fantasy book I have read. Even though "Dragons of the Winter Night" was only a second book in the "Dagonlance Saga" it highly impressed me, and filled me with passion for fantasy, which hasn't wane yet. And needless to say, when I managed to get the rest of the books of "Dragonlance Saga" I was impressed even greater. Even now, when I have read countless number of fantasy books, I consider Dragonlance books as ones of the best fantasy books, I have ever read. So, LBD, I can understand very well, how you are unable to take a break from reading Dragonlance books!

you know which I've read, and that it provided me with one of my favourite characters in fantasy literature.
As for general thought's on the series, i think that they're a great fantasy romp, in one of the best fanstasy world's created (dnd or otherwise), though I prefer the Twins trilogy to the first three.

The only thing we can do about our titles is to PM Shadowdragon and ask him to change our titles. So, if you want a custom title, Shura, you should PM Shadowdragon about it.

I love it!! ADnD?! cool!! Yup! I heard various rumors, that first of Dragonlance books were inspired by adventures of AD&D party, or even after adventures of this AD&D party. Though I have no way to confirm these rumors, they sound rather truthful. Especially, after I read author's notes about Reistlin in the beginning of Soulforge novel: "The frist time I met Reistlin, he was just a name at the character sheet." Of course, it could be faked, but I highly doubt it, as I cannot see how anybody would make profit by faking such thing.

That is very true. The first three books were inspired by the adventures that Weiss and Hickman were playing. If you go back and reread Dragon's of Autumn Twilight, it reads almost exactly like a game transcript minus the die rolls. The later books got much better. That's why the Time of the Twins series are much better novels than the first series. However, I enjoyed both immensely.

Well, I liked the style of the first Dragonlance books very much, Hussar, although the Twins Trilogy was rather good as well.
