Well, since everyone has favorites, why not list the cartoony stuff from Japan that you hate...
I'll get the ball rolling:
Movies: -Akira -Ghost in the Shell (I fell asleep watching that) -Legend of the Overfiend
Series/OAV: -Demetan (probably unknown to most of you) -All the commercial crap that comes to North American television (Pokemon, Digimon, Geyblade, I mean Beyblade, Yu-Gi-Oh, etc) -The not so commercial crap like DBZ...
I'll reserve judgement on Neon Genesis Evangelion until I get to see the middle episodes (from 3 to all the rest except the last 2), which is likely never. Those 4 episodes I saw sucked though. Somehow the Japanese seem to have trouble coming up with decent conclusions to their stories (and that is quite general and does not apply only to NGE)...

Also who the hell mixes cg with anime in such a poor fashion. The second season is like hey we spent all our money on cg so the drawings cant improve yay!

One very important thing to remember is that most of the stuff you'll see on the TV here in North America is a highly butcherized version of what it was originally shown like in Japan.
Take Cardcaptors for example... They cut the first 8 or so episodes, turn that guy into the main character and then switch the order around.
I'm not saying these shows are gems... just don't judge them based on what you see on TV, chances are the original version is better.
Also, the Japanese do have great conclusions to their stories, they just don't feel obligated to the nice and covinient package of a half hour time slot like the Americans do.
It's just different styles that's all.

As for my absolute most hated anime, this is easy. Legend of the Galactic Heros
That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

hmmm....
I think Akira is overhyped. Don't hate it per se, but I don't believe it to be the brilliant piece of art others claim it to be.
I also abhor DBZ. Never liked it, even in Japanese.
I have to agree with Balmung, though. The most glaring example of the Americanization of decent anime making the series senseless would be Sailor Moon.
In Japanese, it is known as Bishojo Senshi Sera Muun. In America, we got Sailor Moon. The JApanese version is gory at times, very tongue in cheek, and not afraid to deal with issues such as all forms of sexuality, killing versus pacifism, etc. The hard decisions that the saviour of the universe needs to make regularly.
If you watch the Japanese version, Sailor Moon is a funny, naive, occassionally brilliant young woman who is capable of making the difficult decisions. There are times when she is completely tortured. There are times when she is completely silly. She is a fully developed character.
Now for the American version. "Girl Power", platitudes, and plain silliness. And Gods forbid we see the struggles, violence, and sexuality; oh no, it has to be watered down for the fragile American viewing audience.
The same goes for Gatchaman (In the states, G-Force or Battle of the Planets). The Japanese version is gritty, nasty, and at times downright mean. We get Casey Kasem doing lousy voice overs that never existed in the original series.
Maybe anime wouldn't suck so much if the folks at DIC, the Cartoon Network and the other importers of the stuff got off their butts and treated us like adults instead of small children in need of constant protection!

It is true that they butcher everything when they put it in the North American market (one possible exception being stuff translated into French that you can get in Quebec, but all the translation is done in France. I would have to see one series in both English and French translations to really judge). It still doesn't necessarily redeem toy-selling stuff, or the constipated crap.

Well said. Add Trigun and Inuyasha to the list. They're SOOOO much better unedited and in the original language (English doesn't convey the true meanings - especially in Inuyasha)

Not to mention that anime series are usually tamed down for TV to begin with (as opposed to the original mangas...)

M.D. Geist was probably one of the biggest wastes of VHS tape I had ever purchased. While I thought the mechanical designs were nicely done and parts of the landship battle scene were pretty dynamic, the same could not be said for the characters themselves.
The dialogue was ridiculous, often overly melodramatic and the English voice acting was terrible. The story also made very little sense in places, though i understand the directors cut corrected this somewhat.

You do realize that DIC's target audience IS children, right? And Cartoon Network has to adhere to FCC regulations as it is not a premium cable channel like HBO, Showtime, or Cinemax. Also, children do watch Cartoon Network, even at times when they should be asleep (and when their parents are). Those are the two chief reasons that CN's anime gets edited like it does for cable TV. Besides, there's plenty of unedited anime out there on DVD and occasionally on the pay channels to more than make up for the cable and broadcast TV stuff.

I more or less liked almost any anime I have seen, except for:
Blood IMHO, Blood contains only pointless hack 'n' slash without any storyline worth mentioning.
Pokemon I admit, that I have seen only a few episodes of Pokemon, but what I have seen made Pokemon look EXTREMLY stupid and childish in my eyes.

Now thinking about it, a Street Fighter movie which I have seen quite a long while ago is about as bad as Blood. No plotline worth mentioning, no interesting characters, just plain and stupid fighting. And personally, fighting isn't what I am looking for in the anime; IMHO, you can find some more realistic or more visual (whatever you prefer) fighting in some films, like ol' good Mortal Combat. I like anime for interesting and sometimes rather unpredictable plotlines, interesting and well-developed characters, and occasional deep emotions and certain messages that are put in the anime.

I don't think I've seen an anime I actualy hate. There are a few that don't interest me (Black Jack) and a few that I realy need either a. a script with written explanations or b. a student of Japanese mythology to explain it to me. (Tokyo Resurrection, official holder of the WTF just happened award made little sense at all mainly because alot of what was happening was never explained)
I'll even stick up for pokemon etc which are afteral for children and enjoyable when your a child.
DBZ fits the same bill as its showen in England, something I enjoyed when I was younger but will nolonger watch.
