3 tablespoons gelatin 2cups sugar 1/2 cup cold water grated rind and juice of 1 orange 1/2 cup hot water grated rind and juice of 1 lemon red or green food coloring
Soften gelatin in cold water. Combine sugar and hot water and heat to boiling. Add gelatin and simmer 20 minutes. Add citrous juice and rind and coloring. Strain into loaf pan. The pan should be large enough so that mixture is 1/2 to 1 inch deep. Add choped nuts if desired. Chill untill firm. When it is cold, turn it on to a board. Cut into cubes or other shapes, roll in confectioner's sugar.
If you prefer other flavors, such as peppermint, wintergreen, and clove, omit the fruit juice and rind, add 1/2 cup water, and flavor with a few drops of oil of peppermint, oil of wintergreen, oil of clove, etc.

I LOVE this candy, but it's either expensive, or hard to find....thanks so much for the recipe. But it would be more appreciated if you made it, then came down for our game on October 25th....hint, hint, hint.

UMMM.... Curently my only mode of transport is a huffy 18 speed moumtian bike, it would take to long to get there. If I can save enough to get a truck and relocate I would be glad to, but that will take a year or so.

Ok I never made this before but try the recipe and well, is it sapost to look like jello jigglers. It tasted great kind of like lemon pie filling but not so lemony. I just wondering if I screwed it up some how.

Did you use unflavored geletin? I usualy use "Knox" brand geletin and it comes out thicker than "Jello Jigglers", kinda like a medium stiff soft candy.

You could try simmering it longer. Try to remember, this is an old recipe and so it might be diferent from what you are used to. My book was copyrighted in 1942.
