One of the things I don't really care for in Enterprise, besides the terrible opening music, is the theme they're running with and the direction they're going plot wise. It parallels the real world too much. I enjoy shows like enterprise simply for the escapism not to see a version of world events.
As for the overt sexieness of the show or its characters I don't think its any worse thatn any other show out there right now.
Still, as Hussar believes, Im willing to give the show more time before I make my final decision.
The best sci fi series I feel that I have seen to date is still B5.

Yes, I did see the vulcan ship... I still liked the transmission better. And you're not talking about Hoshi's "love interest" are you?

Oh, B5 is excellent! But have you ever seen Farscape? It's a different type of science-fiction in that it takes place in present day, just really far away, so it's hard to compare them, but it's deffinitely up in the top noches.
And I liked the idea of Enterprise immensly before I actually saw an episode because it was closer to today. I loved the whole really going where no one has gone before. We'd get all the races and places we knew and loved, but from a whole new vantage point of seeing them for the first time. I mean, even though I knew the Borg shouldn't be there, I had to admit that they did a good job of making them scary again. Stuff like that was what this show was supposed to be about.

Now that people mention it, I do notice the blatant sexuality in the shows. I never really thought about it before, but, whoa. In the last one I saw, with Sato on the planet with the psychic guy, she's walking around in a tight little minidress with no bra. Now, why is she walking around like that? Out of uniform? There was no explanation for it. Maybe poor editing, but, jeez, there was no need for that. Completely gratuitous. I like the show, but, they really could do without being gratuitous.

Oh, that wasn't bad. Did you see the episode from the first season (I think) where the ship had been boarded and Hoshi had to crawl around above the decks? When she jumped down, her shirt caught. She came down, and the shirt didn't. Puhlease! There was no reason for that, unless, of course, they were trying to prove that Starfleet personell don't wear bras.

Y'know, that one didn't bother me that much. heh. And not for just the reason that Hoshi is pretty hot. It was a sight gag that's been used over and over in a number of places for a little comedic relief. It's an old joke, but it still makes me laugh. The look on LT Reed's face when she comes to the door was priceless.
But, I do get the point though. It's pretty bad when they have to boost the ratings for a Star Trek series with sex. Come on. The show should pretty much sell itself just on the name alone. It works for Star Wars.

The show should pretty much sell itself just on the name alone. Apparently that doesn't work anymore. Ever notice that it's not "Star Trek: Enterprise?" It's just "Enterprise". They dropped "Star Trek" from the title. It's more of a stigmata nowadays, being seen as a show for the geeks and scifi nuts. This isn't my opinion, by the way. It's the opinions of the producers. They dropped ST from the title because they wanted to attract a new audience and didn't want to scare people away when they saw "Star Trek".
