Yeah, but then it tends to start falling towards you ... ;D Funny, in most of our games they just sat there looking stupid with smoke billowing out of their torsos.

Chalk it up to a pair of evil dice. And standing one hex away.

The good old Awesome though I rarely get to use her (Far to slow for my tactics)
Followed closely by the Battlemaster. (Easiest jumpjet modification ever) and the Wolverine R

Both of mine are medium and each was suited to a specific task.
Heavy forest planet calls for a spider, 240m jump distance. Pop in. open up twin med laser. pop out behind the opponent.
Urban environ. Hunchback (mine was nicknamed Headhunter, can you guess why?) AC/20 and 2 med lasers, all fairly short range weapons, but how many long range shots do you really get in the city?
Overall favorite regardless of terrain : Warhammer or Archer, never could pick between them.

Y'know, I always did like the hunchback. Just a brutal mech. Sure, not much ammo and piss poor range. But, if you ever got a hold of something, it was going DOWN!

For the same reason I love the Hunchback IIC. It has a radiculous amount of firepower

Going along with the death-from-above, I was always fond of my BTR 9b Victor. I was always the guy in reserve as everyone fled into the hills and anytime you have that much close range fire support to stop those pesky scouts trying to run you down...it's a good thing.

I liked the Phoenix Hawk, LAM version and that was the mech I had when I played Mechwarrior.

New to the forums but I had to jump in here... Normally my personal favorite would be the Griffin or Wolverine. For some reason I'm partial to those two mechs. However, reading the posts in this thread made me remember this one particular battle. We were about two lances worth and our assigned mission was to hold a pass against Kurita forces, the came at us with something close to battalion's worth. I was in a Blackjack. Before four rounds were done I had dropped three mechs including a Battlemaster, all of them with center torso critical hits Before they finally pushed out of the pass I had killed 11 enemy mechs, and eight of them were by center torso crits. My Blackjack was missing one arm and most of the rest of his armour. The silly fools promtoed me and gave me my own lance. wanderer

Forgive me, the only thing I seemed to hit consistantly was my AC/2- even then it was always at long range. I couldn't hit an Atlas if it was standing next to me.

I used to reward my Mechwarrior players with AP each time a low damage weapon caused a critical hit.

mine was, in the first gattletech game. was the Locast. there was a bug in the game because it was so small if you where able to run up to the other mechs. about 50tons or more and you shoot and they could not shoot at you because of your size. but i liek hte L-A-Ms they remind me of Robotech.
