"Not all are arrogant Majesty, back on Toril I was adopted by an Elven family when my parents passed. They have treated me with nothing but respect and admiration... so when my brother told me what was happening here I immediately Gated myself. Besides that, if Celene falls then he will come after my fair Cormanthyr not long after..." Turanis said.

"Ah, I undearstand now!" said Rary, allowing a thin smile to creep over his aged face "So it is not arrogant elves, but your own skin what you cares about! But I wonder then, can you name at least one reason for me to help you?"

"That is not it, I care not for my safety... just Cormanthyr."

"Unfortunately for you, Turanis Altain, I do not care about safety of Cormanthyr, or Celene for that matter." said Rary sharply "The arrogant elves recieved only what they'd deserved. If you need anything from me, you will have to find better reasons for me to help you. I hope, I made myself clear."

"There is probably very little I can offer you, the spells of my own creation are not of your caliber, the lands I own you can take by force, and offering myself in apprenticeship would be more benificial to me than you..... I am open to suggestions as to how I can reimburse you for the use of the portal...."

"I do not know what can you offer me, Turanis Altaine, since I do not know what resources do you have in your disposal." said Rary "However, I can make a few suggestions. As you can imagine, mundane things, like precious metals or gemstones, magical items or spells, and so on, don't really interest me. However, some kind of... extraordinary things, like trapped souls of the powerful people, powerful magical artifacts or at least reliable infomration of their location, rare and powerful magical spells, and similar things can provide and interest for me."

"Hmmmm... I know a whole set of spells that are mine alone to know... and powerful they are... The only Major Artifact in my possession is this..." Turanis reached into the bag at his hip and slowly drew out a long, black and Rune-covered sword. It's Runes glowed a silvery blue, lightning arched up the blade as he held it aloft. "It is an ancient blade forged by a Netherese archmage known as Ioulam. It's name is Soul Edge and is a fearsome weapon to use against magical creatures."

"Ah, it looks more interesting now." said Rary "Well, let me look at what it really is..."
With that, Rary said a couple of syllables, and made a simple gesture with his right hand. Turanis recognized simple Detect Magic spell without any difficulties.
[OOC:] "I use Detect Magic spell to determene strength, location and school of magic of every magical aura within my point of view, but I concentrate upon Soul Edge especially, giving all the others magical auras within my point of view just a side glance. I should be able to determine Soul Edge's aura's strength automatically, unless Soul Edge is protected by some kind of non-detection magic, more powerful then mine magic (consider me 24th level wizard). As about determening school of magic of Soul Edge's aura, consider that I will determine it, if the Spellcraft DC to determine the school of magic of Soul Edge's aura is 50 or less." [/OOC:]

Turanis braced himself for what he knew was coming... The blade crackle for a moment then flash a brilliant light, fading to show Turanis lying ten feet away. "I have tried tha myself... with the same results, it's aura is overpowering to me and all I could get was an aura of evocation and necromancy."
{ooc} the spell reveals the same, only the aura isn't as overpowering to Rary and he can discern it is meant to kill the darker of magical beasts {ooc}

"Very well" said Rary "I will accept Soul Edge as payment for allowing you to use the portal you see, and for assisting you to get there. Bring it to me."

Then Rary turned to the younger man and said "Boy, prepare yourself for travel. You will go with Turanis Altaine. It is about time for you to learn how to use the powers you posses practically. Val, assist him."

The younger man bowed low at first to Rary, then to Turanis, and afterwards left the throne room.

Val - the woman who had leaded Turanis through the Rary's tower and whom Turanis mentally called 'Giantess', too bowed low at first to Rary, then to Turanis, and afterwards left the throne room, following the younger man.

Turanis placed Soul Edge onto the ground before the throne, looking very solemn as he did so. ~and so the true test begins...~

Apparantly either cautious of a magical artifact of such power, or not completely trusting Turanis, Rary spoke a single word of magic, activating a powerful spell which in turn brought three others protective spells upon him...
