Followed closely by his Glabrezu escort…

Rill walked up the spiral staircase, and then proceeded though yet another short corridor to yet another huge adamantine door.

This door is guarded not by Hezrous, but rather by two black armored figures, with unnatural purplish light where their eyes should have been visible from their full helms.

These black armored figures look exactly as the black armored figure whom Rill fought on the stone bridge that lead into the enemy fortress’ inner citadel.

Should Rill look at the black armored figures through his Infravision, he will immediately notice that they radiate no heat.

As a native to the World of Toril and experienced planar mercenary, Rill has probably encountered such creatures as these before, and now, he probably recognized them for what they are – Helmed Horrors, relatively powerful magical constructs, that we widely used by ancient and powerful spellcasters on the World of Toril, although nowadays, few on Toril know how to construct them, and even fewer outside Toril.

As Rill and his Glabrezu escort approached the doors, Helmed Horrors pulled the sides of the doors to themselves, opening the doors before for Rill and his Glabrezu escort, letting them into a well-lit and moderately large circular room…

The first thing Rill saw in the room was a huge golem-like figure, no smaller then Glabrezu, that appears to be mostly made of steel and stone. The golem-like figure is unarmed, but its huge hands appear to be strong enough for it not to need any weapons.

A veteran of countless battles, some of them doubtless against mages, Rill has probably recognized the huge golem-like figure as a Shield Guardian, although Rill is forced to admit that this particular Shield Guardian is larger and doubtless more powerful then most if not all the other Shield Guardians that Rill has encountered before.

In addition to a huge golem-like figure, Rill sees a much smaller black figure of approximately a human size and humanoid built.

This figure seem to be dressed in black robes, but it is somewhat difficult to tell where the robes end, for the figure’s skin as black as its robes. The figure’s eyes are red, and they gleam slightly as a pair of hot coals. The figure appears to be male, but his age is completely impossible to determine.

The only thing close to weapon the figure wields is a fairly short, but heavy iron staff, decorated with images of demonic faces and leering skulls.

The room completely lacks any furniture and about everything else, aside from a large (3 ft. high and 0’6 ft. in diameter) jet-black gemstone that hovers not far over the floor in the middle of the room.

”Ah, so you are Major Nirenn!” The black figure says; there seems to be a whirlwind of emotions in the figure’s voice, and it is nearly impossible to say if the figure is afraid, angry or amused… or all three. ”You surely gave me some minor inconveniences, but now you are in my grasp. So… What should I do with you?”
