”Don’t be so sure, friend.” Khazraad said. ”When I go into battle, I don’t want any backstabbing mercenaries behind me; for all we know, he may not be selling his services just because the bloody orcs already paid him! But if he thinks his men can take the worst our enemies have to offer as well as my warriors, his men may charge with my warriors side by side. I’ll have it no other way, especially, since we are more then capable to give the bloody orcs a couple of lessons ‘bout fighting without any aid, as long as that blasted mage is dealt with, that’s it!”

[glow=red,2,300]Well, I can provide Light, Medium, and Heavy Infantry, Archers, Cavalry, Rogues for stealth or breeding chaos, Healers, Battle Mages, My Vangarian Gaurd, some Deinonychuses, Ranger followers, and some Druids with Wolf Familiars. I can try my troops can attack from an alternate position, if Khazraad would feel more secure that way, and aid from that position while some of my mages provide support on both sides keep them from offering much organized resistance. Dana and I could either go with the group attacking the mage where she can use her magic powers to try to help ward off his, or remain with the troops to provide support. If we are going with you, I have a pair of special Javelins I want sent to my Vangarian Gaurd, since they may prove valuable in this type of fight.[/glow]

”Well, actually I doubt that your cavalry will be of much aid to my knights. They will make swift strikes at the flanks, mostly to draw enemy fire away from Prince Khazraad’s men and to soften the enemy defenses with their magic. So, unless you have some mounted mages or archers among your men, your only option will be to proceed with assault while my knights will withdraw to regroup for another strike, and this will definitely cause some degree of loses among your men. Also, my knights will be counting on their magic to protect themselves from most of the harm coming their way, and if your men don’t have such magical defenses, like Shield spell, for example, this will cause some extra loses among them. As about your infantry…” Melf pauses and consulted the battle plan before continuing, ”…Taking Prince Khazraad’s wishes into consideration, there are two major options here. First, you may charge the enemy fortifications alongside with Khazraad and his men; for example, Khazraad and his men will take the right flank, while your men will take the left flank. As an alternative, however, you may chose to circle around the enemy fortifications and attack from another side; this way, enemy will have to split their forces to meet your assault as well. This option isn’t without dangers, however, for your men will be separated from our main forces, and thus, will possibly be subject to enemy’s preemptive strike, and possibly, a magical assault as well. Surprising as it is, we shouldn’t forget that magic is orcs’ main advantage in this battle.”

Melf paused and looked at Dana before returning his gaze to Danath and continuing, ”But as I have already stated, the key in winning this battle is the success of our strike against the enemy mage, and if two of you can aid us in overcoming him, your help will be most welcome. I won’t lie to you, however, this will be a task of great danger. The enemy mage has awesome powers in his disposal, greater then that of mine, I must admit, and he will likely have some strong bodyguards as well. And though our strike will be a surprise, we should expect the enemy mage to have some protective spells on him; our troops will be making their assault at the very same time, after all. If you wish to aid me in an attack against the enemy mage, despite all the dangers, your help will be most welcome, Commander Danath, Lady Dana. Unlike Prince Khazraad, I am inclined to trust you, and I hope that you will not betray that trust.”

"I to would like to put my trust in you. We need to put petty diffrences aside to eliminate the obvious threat. So, is the number and the roster for our teleport finalized?"

”If Commander Danath and Lady Dana agree to join us on this dangerous mission, then everything is decided.” Melf said, ”The strike team will consist of myself, Trakas, Solarion, Commander Danath, Lady Dana, and five of my senior knights. If Commander Danath and Lady Dana refuse, two more of my senior knights will take their places. So, do you agree to join us in a strike against the enemy mage, Commander Danath, Lady Dana?”

[glow=red,2,300]"Very well, I will go along with you, as will Dana. My forces will go alongside yours in the attack, and my mages should be able to counter some of the magic used by the enemy, although since we will be assaulting the leader, I am not sure how much magic the rest posess. My elite members will lead since I and Dana will not be present. I am prepared to go whenever you are."[/glow]

”Thank you for agreeing, Commander Danath, Lady Dana, you help is much appreciated.” Melf said, ”Anyway, with our strike squad being formed, all that’s left for us to do is to review our strike tactics. Keep in mind that we will be teleporting in there somewhat in blind, having only general idea about the enemy. All I can tell is that the enemy mage casts his spells from about fourty-five feet tall wooden tower, probably with some bodyguards posted around. We will also appear fourty-five feet away from it, to have a clear line of fire at the enemy mage, as well as to have some distance from his bodyguards. Lady Dana, I assume you are a mage of some power, and I would like you to open combat with your most potent magic-neutralizing spell aimed at the enemy mage, he will surely have some magical defenses upon him, and I hope that you will be able to neutralize some if not most of them. Afterwards, act as you see fit. Trakas and Solarion, you will proceed with missile attack upon the mage as soon as Lady Dana casted her spell; Solarion, you are also to support Lady Dana with your magic should the necessity arise. Three of my senior knights will engage the nearest enemies in melee to prevent them from attacking, Lady Dana, Trakas and Solarion, while myself and two more of my senior knights will remain behind to counter enemy mage’s spells or otherwise react on whatever unexpected difficulties will arise. As about you, Commander Danath, I must say that I do not know whether you excel in swordsmanship, archery, or spellcraft, so I would like to leave it up to do to decide where you will make the greatest difference.”

For Treyguy only – Commander Danath’s men
Meanwhile, Commander Danath’s men came within three hundred feet of the enemy fortifications.

For Treyguy only – Commander Danath’s men
The sun is already nearly hidden behind the horizon and in the deepening gloom, Danath’s men can distinguish nothing more then some figures patrolling the low walls.

For Treyguy only – Commander Danath’s men
With no cover anywhere near the fortifications, however, Danath’s men aren’t sure how safe will it be to come closer, in fact, they can’t be fully sure that they haven’t been spotted already…

Danath's men
Reluctantly, they head back away from the fortifications, sneaking along in case someone is trying to follow them or trap them.
Danath and Dana
Dana says to Melf [glow=red,2,300]I am a mage, but at the moment I have no spells focusing in dispelling. If we are not planning on leaving immediately, I could probably prepare a certain spell that will almost assuredly strip away many of his magical defences, but that depends on how long until we leave.[/glow]
After Dana finished with her telling, Danath speaks up and says [glow=red,2,300]I have trained in Two-Weapon combat and Archery, and can do fairly well in either. Of course, why can't we simply turn invisible and then teleport over there. That would make it significantly easier on us.[/glow]

”Don’t worry, My Lady, we are leaving only in the morning; no sense in a night assault against those who are much better adapt to fighting in the darkness, eh?” Solarion says to Dana with his usual smile, ”So, plenty of time for us to relax and enjoy some quality wine… And to prepare spells for tomorrow’s battle, of course!”

”Invisibility is an option I didn’t consider,” Melf said to Commander Danath then, ”Though it is not because I forgot it, but rather because we are dealing with a very powerful mage here, and thus, I didn’t thought this option will do us much good. Actually, I would be surprise if he didn’t have See Invisibility or similar spell upon him when he is directing the battle and using his magic against the foes. It is possible, though doubtful, that his bodyguards may not have such spells, so your idea is of some value, Commander Danath. Very well, I will prepare a Mass Invisibility spell to cast upon our group just before the teleportation. In either way, one spell will not be too much of a waste, and it may actually provide us with much-needed element of surprise. Thank you for your suggestion, Commander Danath. Keep in mind, by the way, that if my Mass Invisibility spell proves ineffective, we won’t have much of a surprise on your side, I expect enemies to be wary of possible dangers, and most if not all of us will need a few moments to adjust to changed surrounding.”

Melf pauses for a moment, and then adds, ”If you are equally good in both melee and archery, Commander Danath, then I suggest that you join your shoots to those of Trakas and Solarion. My knights should be able to hold the mage’s bodyguards back, at least for a while, but should they fall, I expect you and Solarion to do your best in keeping them away from Trakas. No offense meant, but Trakas is the best archer I have seen in a long while, and if his arrows won’t strike the mage down, nobody’s will.”
