Don't be too hard on yourself, my beloved. *BRO gives a reassuring smile to Regina* You art is very good (of course on fan level; not on the professional artists' level), and your second picture of Alice is actually among the best pictures I have seen (although to be completely truthful, it isn't the best picture I have seen). Also I know that you are very busy nowadays, my beloved, and so I understand that you don't have time for drawing nowadays; as your studies as well as taking some rest from them are definately more important then drawing. Thankyou for your lovely reply my beloved,....and yes it is quite hard for me to get dragged away from my textbooks,....*Regina sobs*.....but I find drawing actually makes me feel better after hours of revision,.....as all I do each day is science. Oh my, don't get me wrong I love my courses, and I enjoy my lectures, I honestly do enjoy what I study and plan to do as a career but,.......doing something different like artwork and fanfictions is a nice break and something to enjoy.

Regina, your art's wonderful. You have a good sense of detail and shape. If you're up for some criticism, though, I have a few suggestions. Everything I've seen so far is flat. That's not always bad, everything looks great, but if you really want your art to look professional then you have to start thinking about shading, light, and shadows. I'm not a professional artist either and it's always hard to give people advice about stuff like this without being face to face, but I've taken a few art classes in my high school and college careers and your work will explode if you can get the shading right. It's a hard technique to master (took me years, literally, and I'm still no expert), but it'll be well worth it and your art will look ten times more realistic and professional. Don't take my advice as a sign that your art sucks. It does not, by any mean. I just wanted to give you some pointers to improve. Maybe when I post some of my art (don't wait for it, though, it might never happen), you can give me some pointers. Thankyou for your reply, and I did find the pointers helpful,...... hmmm,......the thing is I have been trying to make my pictures less flat, but I fear ruining what I have sketched, and am waiting for when I can get a photoshop program onto the home computer as I am just itching to get my artwork properly finsihed,.....all the work here is not my final piece, it's just I do not have the means yet to get them done to how I would like - i.e. coloured etc. I would hand colour but,....my scanner is not a big fan of it, and would make my artwork look even more worse. Truth to tell,......I actually did do art as a subject for one of my choice GCSE's at High School, and have done some really good work, far better than the stuff here,...but it's mostly Greek and Egyptian architecture, shaded, coloured everything, and my best piece had to be a Egyptian window,....it was beautiful and I hardly ever like any work I do,...... as we had a set theme and therefore I could not advance my anime art skills. I should go back and demand my work to be given to me,.....I was allowed to go back and get it but the school never has an opening for me to waltz in rumage around the art rooms and walk out with folders of work. I was given a place to do art at A-Level but,......I wanted my science's more and thus turned it down. Anyway, I hope you are not too disapointed in me over my "flat" work,.....I have been given the opportunity from Aylix to get his photoshop 7 disk and get my computer up and working with it,....but he said that yesterday so I haven't been able to get it yet. Edit from Merkuri: Damn damn damn, still not used to these extra mod buttons. I pressed "modify" instead of "reply" and didn't notice it until I had posted. I put the post back the way it was (I think). Sorry!

(Gah! Sorry again about editing your post. I'm so embarrased! ) Oh no, I'm not dissapointed! I only replied because your work was really good and I just saw a way to make it even better. I'm familiar with that desire to not tamper with a picture because you're afraid you'll ruin it. I've done some doodles where I did the hand perfectly or got the proportions just right and I was so afraid I was going to ruin it that I didn't fix other problems the doodle had. But sometimes it's worth it to take the risk. You know, I'd recommend getting a tablet if you have some cash on hand. Wacom makes some reasonably priced models, and you can probably find them cheap on eBay. I bought mine used from eBay and it's still working now 3-4 years later. It's probably one of the best "investments" I've ever made. I still use the thing on a regular basis. I don't know if photoshop has support for a tablet's pressure-sensitivity, but if it doesn't most tablets come with software that does. When it comes to art, I don't know about you but I can't do a single thing with a mouse. I feel much better with a pencil-shaped object in my hand. Much more control and much easier to get rid of that wierd "I'm drawing, but not on paper" feeling you get when working on the computer. The ability to save your drawings before you fool around with them, and to even have several different copies of the same drawing in different states (line, shaded, colored, etc.) really helps your creativity because it's a lot harder to ruin something.

Heh,....*Regina nervously laughs embarrased at herself*......I'm also a person like that who needs a pencil in their hand rather than a mouse,......I also just cannot write up coursework on a computer,.....I just cannot do it, I need to hand-write it and do all my statistical calculations long-winded and by hand without using excel etc,.....as I feel doing the calculations myself makes me more sure that my work is right, well,......as right as it can be given my hatred for maths, and you know,.....I find that method works better,......maybe that's just me though.

Hmm,....I have been on the verge of completeing a first drawing for a new major character in my The City of Angius rpg,......I shall do all that I can to make them look less flat,....but I shall also add in some of my other artwork, for that rpg, as I've been tinkering with a piece of jewelry for someone later on in the rpg.
I'm not very good at drawing people,..but I am very pleased with my work for General Alexia,........I fear ruining it but I would like to add some texture and colour,.........perhaps I could trace the original and then colour it,........I shall try that also tonight, as I've managed to get a load of coursework written up today leaving tonight free to relax slightly. I shall post up my new work on Sunday so I hope you'll look out for it.
*Regina looks hopeful*

Once again keep up the wonderful art work, it turly is wonderful. ;D *Regina blushes*........W-why thankyou, that's very kind of you to say. *Huggles to Sharess* I like the eyes too,.....even though they're inspired by Meryl from Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes,........I don't like her much,.....she gets my goat a bit,......it's like Rose from Metal Gear Solid 2: The Sons of Liberty,.....and Raiden,..........ughhh,.......*Regina looks upset*..........don't even get me started on that guy, he's no Solid Snake (The main character from the Metal Gear series) and Hideo Kojima was most definately right to put that character - Raiden - in to make you appreciate the character Solid Snake even more,......and he did it very well, Raiden sucks and quite frankly,.......kinda ruined that game for me slightly. *Regina blushes some more*..................Oh my, I babbled,.......again, *Regina sighs*.......I'm so sorry. Anyways,....I'm glad you enjoy my work,....and I hope you'll keep checking this thread when you see my name updating it as I'll be posting some new work soon as I'm off to go and finish a piece I'm working on later tonight or tomorrow, and hopefully some better techniques etc, to try and make my work better.

Here we are,....I decided to be brave and shade in my latest character creation, one which will be the main character I use in my "The City of Angius" rpg later on when things take a turn before the hero's are able to explore the world beyond the Island they are on at the moment. What do you think? I'm very pleased with this one,.....the eyes are very wrong but work well nevertheless. This character is called: Xue Ganwhich took me about and hour just then to decide on. Xue is a Chinese female name for Snow, and Gan is my surname in Chinese,....apparently,.....thus there she is my new character,....one which I am quite excited about playing actually. She comes from one of the nearest neighbouring Islands, and is the Emperor's adventurer, she knows a lot about some of the Islands in the great sea and commands a ship - kind of like a warship in size - and ventures out in search of allies, and treasure for her ruler. Xue is the latest in a long line of women to take this role, as the Gan family is renowned for it's swordsplay, no one could match their skills; and so each female born in the family will be the next in line to serve their Emperor. She will be the first to venture to the Island where the City of Angius is,......and will take the Hero's around the Great Sea, to help to rebuild the fairy kingdom to allow Caramel the fairy to return home to her kind. In doing so they shall venture out past the realms of even Xue's knowledge of the Sea. If you haven't guessed, the Island she comes from is based largely on ancient China. So,......*Regina trembles*.....what do you think?

I will be posting up the character picture for Cloud - who'll be playing in my "The City of Angius" rpg very soon and thus he will need his picture,......heh,......I hope he'll like it. Plus I'm going to be brave again and shade it in like with Xue,.....who I'm quite looking forward to playing actually,...she has a rather interesting story and is easily told,...no secrets there unlike Alexia,....who's past is shrouded in mystery,....and with good reason! You'll see why when I post up another picture of her here.
It's going to be a half skydancer half human,.....a skydancer is one of the new races in the rpg,....but was inspired by the Cloudrunners from the game - Starfox adventures.
Hmm,....perhaps I should play that tonight for some more inspiration?!

Here is my new character drawing for Cloud who will be playing in my "The City of Angius" rpg, the drawing was inspired after re-reading my Thundercats comic,...thus helping me to decide on how to construct the hands and feet,......after seeing a caption of Tygra the drawing was complete in my mental image and I had to draw the outline and basic features last night,........this was at 10 o'clock,......and after an hours drawing I finally went to bed after my days work,.... I finished it this morning,....well *Regina blushes* Sunday is the only day I can have a late morning,....thus I started drawing again at 10.30 am,.....after my breakfast and bringing a cup of tea upstairs to drink mid-drawing of course! What do you think? *Regina giggles* Regina loves the thundercats,....I used to watch them all the time as a child,...and truth to tell,....I still do. *Giggles* I have the very first episode - Exodus - on video from years ago,....the video is so ancient I fear it breaking at times, but it still is amazing. This character is a half human, half skydancer and the star on his left wing is the mark of Tamara,...the dragon goddess of life, light and mercy. It is a sign that he was blessed by Tamara, as one day his mother and father were trapped in their cottage when the crop fields caught fire, on a harsh summer year,.....no one was around for miles as his parents were farmers. His mother was a skydancer, whilst his father was a human. His mother was still pregnant at the time, but this character knew their peril from a message from Tamara,.....bringing out his dormat abilities of ice,.....a huge ice storm cleared the fire and saved his family.

Regina I think you could have a furter in anime if you really want to, your work is really great. Please keep up the wonderful work it turely is a joy to see it. ^_^!!
