K'Zan sits down heavily in his chair, and stares hopelessly at the table - with all avenues of escape apparently cut off and the mob closing in, he's run out of ideas. Perhaps it'd be best, he considers, if he just sits quietly for the moment...

One of the dwarves licks his razor-sharp teeh and breaks the silence in with a snide remark about the softness of K'Zan's skin. The nearest dogman slaps him on the back of the head for his impudence, sending the dwarf huddling to the floor.
One of the dogmen glares at Canderous, but the hot bloodlust seems to have drained from its eyes. Cousin Warrior it says, I smell the stink of Gehenna on you. Who are you and your ilk?
Though this dogman seems to want to talk to you, a few of the other dwarves don't seem to share the opinion. A couple are strapping cesti to their fists and grinning maliciously, though still standing behind the three massive dogmen.

"I've spent a day or two more than I'd like to admit in Torch, yes." The human says staying in his current position. He wasn't dumb enough to let his guard down for someone with the stupidity to match his bravery to rush in for a surprise attack. "We aren't much more than mercenaries working for someone who hates us as much as we can't stand him. Wanted some rest after going through those damned caves to get here, but he didn't see it our way."
Sure that won't get the best response from them, he knew it might be better than just saying he worked for Faniel, or nothing at all.

K'Zan sits quietly, trusting Canderous to handle the situation.

No... this is different, stronger. I smell gehreleth blood in your sweat. What brings you here, brother? it says, slightly repulsed. It's eyes roll towards K'Zan and open wide in surprise Piking deva!
It bares its teeth at the githzerai, staring at him in hot blood. The other two dogmen begin to growl. One of the dwarves smacks his chops while mumbling something about deva liver being a delicacy. K'Zan immediately notices a warm, prickling sensation on his skin, giving him what would almost be a sense of elation. He looks at his hands and sees the skin rapidly turning red and blistering as if on fire. The warm sensation begins to turn extremely uncomfortable, and K'Zan looks around in shock. One of the dwarves looks up at the githzerai with a malicious glint in his eyes; his hands manipulating a feathered talisman.
You are not welcome here, Celestia scum. Go back else I drag you back by your entrails!

K'Zan stares at his hands, unable to understand what the hell is happening... he glances up at the dog-man, shock plainly visible in his eyes, and stutters briefly.
'I... I... what...'
'What's happening to me?'

Not being fond of magic or his companions being attacked, Canderous looks around to see if he can find the source of K'Zan's current affliction and says loud, "Stop with your foul arcane curse, or so help me, I'll stop you with the edge of my sword! If you want us out, clear your bodies from our path and we will leave quietly!"

Mere seconds after Canderous levelled his threat, K'Zan's skin began to visibly cool, as the bubbles on the surface stopped expanding and collapsed into large, charred pockmarks. The dwarf fingering the talisman began to fidget, a look of agitation briefly passing over his face, before he let out a grunt and pocketed the feathered object. Obviously fed up with all the talk going on, he indignantly pushes his way past the lead dogman and flashes his filed-down teeth at K'Zan.
Easy, berk. That bleedin aura 'round you was as filthy celestial as could be. Did you a favor, I did, by burning it off. Now, how says you put that rusty lil chiv away, leave all your jink and that fancy armor on this here table, and we consider that a repayment for services rendered, eh?
The lead dogman snaps at the dwarf, who simply raises up a nasty-looking cestus in a sudden show of superiority. The dogman backs down, and slowly turns towards the two of you, letting out a low growl.
Hurry up, then. Grinder here don't like to wait. I don't suppose you'd like those Spectrum thugs downstairs to know you've been conspiring with da Abyssal League either, eh?

K'Zan stares at his charred hands, still unable to understand quite what has just happened.
'I don't understand... what are you talking about? Celestial? I'm no celestial.'

Canderous actually showed some emotion other than anger as he grinned, "I'll point it downwards, but I'm not putting it away. Especially since I'm not wearing much clothes on under this and I refuse to walk around very close to being completely naked." Taking the emotion back into himself, the human continued, "And as for money, I have none, which means that theres not much you can get from me, without a fight at least."

The dwarf moves with frightening speed up to K'Zan, bring his face as close to the githzerai's as possible, and baring his teeth menacingly.
You calling Grinder a liar, berk? Huh? Mephit offal, githzerai, I just did you a FAVOR, and you start calling me a liar!
He backs down from K'Zan and turns to face Canderous. Despite his height, the dwarf seems to emanate a presence that's positively gigantic. The dogmen seem to defer to him without question.
And you! That tin can you call armor might fetch a fair bit of jink these days. I don't care what you're wearing under it: you're leaving, and it stays. Of course... we might be able to negotiate... another... form... of payment.
The dwarf smiles diabolically. The lead dogman steps up behind the dwarf and flexes his enormous muscles, as if backing up the threat.

His eyes locking with the dogman Canderous then rolling them back to the dwarf. "Your threat and henchmen is becoming annoying. I've dealt with enough today. I'm not taking it off, and I've had much more threatening propositions come my way, so lets get this over with." While cockiness might have came from his words, he knew not to underestimate them and stayed ready for the first attack.

K'Zan quietly addresses the dwarf, ignoring the aggressive posturing.
'Oh, so sorry; I wasn't aware that I was supposed to thank you for trying to melt the flesh off my bones. I'm sure my companion here would be more than happy to return the goodwill by sticking a blade in your gut, but I for one would rather we ended this exchange right now. Canderous is somewhat attached to his equipment, and I am afraid that I have nothing of value.
'How about we just go our separate ways and forget we saw one another, alright? Do you really want the Spectrum to get involved, or the Blackguard?'

Oho, he has a spine after all! laughs the dwarf No, githzerai worm, I have done plenty for you. Believe me, a little burning will be the last thing on your mind if the Blackguard got you with that bright aura on you. It took a while to dispel - some bleedin caster musta tagged you with it... probably wants you dead, by the looks of it.
He tosses his head non-chalantly and smiles that unnerving smile back towards you, Now, in case you don't already know the drill, I do something for you, you do something for me. If you won't give me that Avernus dreg that you call battle equipment, then merely give me your name and lineage, both of you, and that'll do.

Sensing some foul intentions, he stays at the ready, "Canderous Odell. My lineage being nothing of importance since I came from a small tribe far beyond mosts knowledge."
