So...what's the word? Is this gonna be an ass-kickin' movie that's everything you hope it will be, or does "Starring Damon Wayans" loom in its future? Somewhere in between?

Actually I voted for the second option but it recorded it as the first choice...

I am very worried about this project. Producers and movie execs could mangle this thing up very badly. Depite the cries from the creative person behind it (Kev Siembieda), the movie could, and probably will be changed from his vision of the RIFTS universe. You know it's gonna happen! Very worried indeed. But I will give the theaters my $8 to go see it, irregardless of how crappy it looks.

one of two things will happen:
1) KS will fight for as much creative control as he could possibly wrest from bruckheimer/Disney or something else will happen and we'll have D&D2-- Electric Boogaloo or something equally insane, letting down rabid fanboys everywhere who believe they could do a good rifts movie...
2) KS and bruckheimer will argue, fight and somehow, in the midst of all the insanity a good script, cast, and director will emerge and give us a better than decent movie because with everyone fighting it out over creativity, no one will realize that the people making the movie made a pretty good flick right under their noses...

We can only hope that KS and Bruckheimer see eye to eye and can creat a movie worthy of the name Rifts
(is that a bit to much?)

You don't see Bill Coffin and C.J. Carella writing Palladium books anymore do you? Their leaving won't impact on the project at all. In any event, Kevin's role is as an advisor. He has already said that he will have very little control over what happens as far as the movie goes. Success or failure of this film rests squarely on the shoulders of Bruckheimer Productions.

Success or failure of this film rests squarely on the shoulders of Bruckheimer Productions. My point was that Kevin can be too much of a control freak about the game at times, and has generally refused to delegate or relinquish creative control to others in the past.
