Challenger:
Have you seen the new Chaos Codex, they get battle cannons on dreadnought like machines called difilers. they are not bad at all. and Iron Warriors can get 4 Heavy Support, imagine what Gaurd can do with that. WOW

Actualy I would accuse you of taking a army for the soul purpose of killing mine if you took a bloody Tyranid warrior army with the rest of the army being full of homagaunts... Then I would accuse you of making that. That kinda army at 500 points is a Bltch to kill
And I said I had yet to see chaos put somthing out that can kill my army because I have yet to have seen it... As simple as that... I have never EVER witnissed a chaos army kill my army... The only time that I ever really lost was a mission were I had to capture and hold somthing against a Grey Knight's army and they made it so that the peice of Terrain to be held was under the third type of bombardment... not the lance or the melta but the other one... Dont know but it had 3 AP and he shot off my Terminator's off the bat and then just held the hill with his own...
No matter how he sets up his tanks I can still hide behind cover for the first turn. Then jump out and make a mad dash for the nearest peice of Terrain.
If he uses guess range weapons so will I with whirlwinds... since it automaticaly hits the rear armor I have a excelent chance to kill his with my whirlwinds... And if he shoots them oh well that means the rest of my army is fine and I'm out... 250 points... Not a big loss ;D
The idea is that some of your necron warriors will die from the bombardment while my tactical marines shoot and my death company tie you up. its a 3 pronged attack.
To Challenger:
You were fine... GIR was calling me the NEWB...
Guess range weapons dont roll to hit. Battle cannons last I checked up still had balistic skill and had to hit... Unless of coarse the updated the rules since I last looked.
So how do you set up terrain then?
And finaly A buddy told me that they could.

"Guess range weapons dont roll to hit. Battle cannons last I checked up still had balistic skill and had to hit... Unless of coarse the updated the rules since I last looked." Their ordinance they never have thus why their so damned dangerous BTW since when did guess Range weapons automaticly hit the rear armour surely they hit from which ever dirrection the blast is coming from (ie center of the marker) Not sure on this you could be right and I missed it. How do we set up terrian? Either with the charts or just by general concent we simply don't try to set it up particualy to our advantage just in such a way it looks good. Kinda daft to slant it in one persons favor before you roll for table edges Challenger

tyrinids inthe old rules 3rd, but before they got the new codex were eviler, 18 points for troops, one spore mine and one ripper base, and then two Carnys and one Tyrant. and you cant hide from guess unless you are in a building. that will hit you. or not. no matter the terrain. and for you having whirlwinds, well then you just made you just customized your army for his. would you really put that many whirlwinds, when you say that your will use preds and other tanks??? and do you have that many, your telling me to use models i have?? umm 3 prong, first you cant shoot into combat unless troops are not in combat. and second i can still get up. and i can shoot to remember that also. i can do things as well im not just goin to stand there. ill get into combat and over run you. only the death company would be the only problem becasue of the ignore wounds, but with my staff of light on my lord then he can take them in one hit. and with Str 5 and T 5 he is harder for you to hurt.

Kinda daft to slant it in one persons favor before you roll for table edges Challenger in WAR you cant change the terrain to what you want it to be. so we do somthing like that. we give some terrain that only can be put on your side. and then some in the middle but nothing to much.

We do it our way unless we have a defender-attacker scenario... Then the defender sets up the terrain to his/her will since you know... s/he picked the spot to make a defence... But in the scenario of 2 attackers they choose were to attack from and the like so we usualy do it our own little way.
The whirlwinds are in my larger army... I probably would only take 1 because they are nifty... In my full army though yes I have 3 Whirlwinds in my shooting detachment.
And the idea of the three pronged attack is the whirlwind softens you up and then the Death company blocks units from getting to the tactical marines while the tactical marines pick off units not in close quarters.
And a guess range weapon will hit the lowest armour value under the blast radius. Its a rule I just confirmed it... I remember being cheesed off too when someone told me this when he bombed my predators with basilisks...
and remember GIR you may have a beefy lord but when my men assault you are looking at if I have the smallest death company. 16 regular str 5 attacks and 5 str 5 power weapon attacks... the power weapon strikes at 6 initiative and the rest come through for me at 5... And since I have jump packs chances are I'll have my way...
But hey there is always room for error and I could be wrong and hey you may even win... Ive seen it happen before in these small skirmishes. ;D
