Your transport ship, a standard Vestra design mass transport freighter, docks at the planet's horizon station without incident. As black uniformed Vestra guards herd you out into a waiting fleet of cloudboats along with many of the other passengers, you get a glimpse out the wide dome that vaults above you. Yaarius, the star of the Vestran system, blazes as a brilliant point at the planet's edge. As you board the nearest cloudboat with another 200 passengers, clutching your luggage closely, you get an awe-inspiring view out the cloudboat's roof as it quickly descends from the horizon station into the Vestran atmosphere. Yaarius shifts higher into the sky, illuminating the icy surface of Vestra Prime, sparkling off the myriad clouds high in the stratosphere. You can make out the outlines of the famous Vestran digital cities dotting the landscape. Descending into the heart of one such city, New Galat, you expect an equally impressive view, but are disappointed as the cloudboat's internal holoprojectors activate, a slieu of illusiary authority figures and celebrities selling products and information for exorbitant prices in a heartless ploy to scam refugees from the recently destroyed Halebrian Guild. Refugees such as yourself.
Memories of home flash through your mind as the holoprojectors deactivate and the cloudboat gently touches down on a landing pad, scanning everyone's multicards and retinas as you all leave the vessel. A few Vestran soldiers wait by the landing pad, shock rifles in hand, keeping the refugees orderly.
You look up to the sky to see a grand light show. Buildings that seem to be made purely of forcefields and transdimensional substance tower into the clouds, bright holoprojections covering every inch of them. Hovercars run along 5 levels of road, suspended by magnetic fields. Military personell have replaced normal police, and a platoon of soldiers wearing exoskeletons and carrying shock rifles is a common sight these days. What happened to the Halebrians could happen here: a fate that no one wishes to Remember. You too, walk pensively, trying to forget the past few months.
It had happened in a flash. Forces that had been taken for granted simply didn't exist anymore, and chaos seemed to run rampant. It hit the planetary fusion reactors first, wiping out several cities as they exploded spectacularly. Before the Halebrians could call on their allies for aid, strange people had appeared in various locales, calling themselves Godlings, and claiming to be the new rulers of the world. Military was sent out, but no military returned. These so-called Godlings had obliterated them without a trace and without any witnesses. It was not long before the first refugee ships were sent out and the Halebrian Guild dissolved. The heads of the government, including Guildmaster Habelrus, was killed and major population centers were reduced to ghost cities.
The human in you tells you that the next logical step would be to rebuild here in New Galat and move on from your previous life, but you have never been one to follow your human side too strongly. A Scion of Nature, you were always an outcast. Both respected and feared for your gifts, you bowed to no man and followed your heart. A Scion of Nature, no one knew you, yet you were everywhere and everyone. A mover and a shaker, now humbled and herded by the Masses. You feel it in your heart: New Galat is but merely a step - you will rise again. Welcome to the beginning of your new life, wanderer.
