Hey all, I would like to start out by appologizing for missing last weeks game. I was moving my wife out of the dorm (she droped out of school). I need to drop out of the game (or at least take an extended break, it might be nice to come back some day) due to my wife and I having some major Marital problems. I feel like I need to devote all the time I can spare to making our relationship work (unfortunately, DnD doesn't fit in there anywhere). So, I'll check the message boards if I get a chance, and you can always email me: melegaunt075@yahoo.com
Thank you Hussar for a wonderful gaming experience. Kenneth (Elias)

Hey Man, Good Luck. I hope it works out the best for you. Going miss you in the game, but we will keep your PC warm (in temporal stasis - LOL).
Best wishes, TJJ

Just found me a cool new toy for the game. It's an automated initiative roller that keeps track of everyone's init. From now on I think I'll handle everyone's initiatives. No more screwing up turns hopefully.
I've macroed all of your initiatives, so it should streamline combat very well.

Ok, first off I'd like to appoligise for the technical difficulties this week. Obviously there are some glitches with the fog. Hopefully we have this sorted out for the next time I want to run a dungeon crawl.
However, today did bring to mind something that I've talked about to a few of you individually, but not together. Teamwork. I didn't know what gaseous form actually did. Now, I'm not sure if you can cast it on other people, but, if you can, why did it not get cast on Grimnoor at the very beginning? With his darkvision, he could have explored the entire cave system, located each and every creature and had everything all layed out for you on a silver platter. Even if it can't be cast on someone else, then Turjan should have a darkvision spell ready and do it himself. There was absolutely no reason to risk any party member in there. You should have known the entire dungeon from one end to the other before you even went in.
Guys, that was a side trek dungeon. A minor adventure. Nothing in there was over CR7 and most of it was CR 3. Despite that, I almost killed one player, seriously incapacitated a second and have tied up your priest for the past two session trying to fix the first two. All because of poor communication.
I guess my point is, you really have to start getting the teamwork together or be prepared to start rolling up new characters. And right now, that's pretty difficult.

bah, who needs teamwork? i can charge an army of gragons by my self!
seriously, i agree, and being the point man, knowing which way is the fastest would make movement a lot quicker, instead of fighting over north or south. also, we need teamwork in terms of combat too, not just exploration, if i can flank someone, i can do some prety hefty damage with my sneak attack, i tried to get in behind the dragon, but turjan cast grease, makeing it dangerous to do so. so... think about placement when you engage, if you can move to a location that would alow an ally to flank the enemy easier without taking and AoO, do it, don't just charge blindly, also, some advice when it comes to being bombarded with arrows or bolts, kneel or drop, kneeling will give you a -2 AC vs melee attacks, but a +2 AC vs missile, that includes spells like melf's acid arrow (or Dugan's Corrosive Bolt or something for turjan), dropping to prone will double that, but i beleave that there is a penalty for attacking while prone. Also, it's a free action to go from standing to kneeling or prone, or from kneeling to prone, so you should do so whenever your being hit by arrows, and standing up from either is a move action, alowing you to, in the first round, get into position, fire, drop, then on the next rounds, stand, fire, drop. It should be able to minimize damage taken while fighting ranged enemies, and i don't see any rules that penalize casting while kneeling or prone, so turjan and shads, whenever there's arrows flying and there's no melee, instead of just standing around, or standing around and casting a spell, duck or drop and cast. The same goes for cover, whenever possible, get as much cover as possible, ie: boulders, low walls, even allies if they have some form of magical protection like protection from arrows.
well, i'm off to make Gragons, i'm thinking half-dragon and Gorgons... well, later

I've never seen rules for kneeling. Where is that from? I looked in the PHB, but I can't see it.
Just to add to that, a crossbow can be fired from the prone.

Table 8-8: Attack Roll Modifiers pg 132 for the bonuses and penalties for kneeling/prone, and Table 8-4: Misc Actions pg 128 for the time it takes to switch from standing to prone, it doesn't have anything about kneeling but in the d20 modern book, it has kneeling under drop to prone, and I don't see why it wouldn't be in 3.0 D&D

For those who may not have access to a PHB, the SRD is in RTF format here: www.wizards.com/D20/article.asp?x=srd35I'm going to rule that any new characters that come in will be using 3.5 rules. I'd like to slowly start insituting 3.5 characters into the game. There aren't that many differences between the two systems, so current characters will be unchanged. New characters, on the other hand, whether they come from new players or from fatalities, will be drawn from 3.5. Unless someone has a real beef with that, in which case, you can use a 3.0 character. I'm not that fussed about it.

Hussar - Thanks for posting the game transcripts. Is the flame the "golden bird?" If so, how does the water come into play with the snakes?

Well, considering they already broke the door down, I guess I can tell you. The answer to the riddle was a lamp. Saying the word lamp at the door would have caused it to open. Instead, the party went the route of brute and bashed it down. That works too. Heh.

Well, this sucks. I just updated my OpenRPG to 1.6.1 Great. Has some cool new features and Tons of bug fixes. Fantastic. Hopefully the fog thing will work properly now and there's some other goodies, including an isometric view of the game map. Wonderful. Now for the bad. OpenRPG 1.6.1 does not support any of the plugins that I used in 1.5. Which means I lost my GM box (cool) and my initiative tracker (way cool)! I am most certainly not happy about this. In fact, this blows chunks. Of course, it's my own bloody fault for not reading the plugins site opening lines. It does have a message posted in NOVEMBER that says that he will be updating the plugins to be compatible with 1.6.1 in a day or two. Friggin wonderful. Hopefully, by the time we start playing in February, I'll have this sorted out. If not, we'll have to go back to plugin-less land and I'll have to figure something out to stream-line things. GRRR!!!
