What is possibly worse than being evil is being completely and utterly unbiased. Make all of your rolls in front of the players. All of them. No fudging either way. I've found, that by doing this, I am a much nastier DM than I ever was. Even fairly minor encounters suddenly become much nastier. I rarely kill players. However, now, I also never SAVE players either. Now, it is entirely up to the dice as to whether you live or die. As DM, I set the stage, but, it's up to the players to survive. I have never fudged a single die roll and I advocate/ agree with what your saying here. Great advice. JSUN

The Outlands
Nestled far beyond the realms of "civilized" fold lay the sprawling expanse of the outlands. Consisting of lazy meadows and fields of wild grass and flowers the outlands are rarely a destination of most adventurers or city folk. Breaking up the bleak, endless plain are ancient, windswept bluffs of craggy broken granite and limestone in which are embedded ancient caves and tunnels where the Vanir, wandering nomads and merchants hole up during the frequently voilent rainstorms that often sneak up like silent Assassins.
It is said that the Vanir alone know the secerets of the 'Strelien lights', stars in the nights sky, that they use to navigate. Perhaps there is wisdom in this for many a brave soul has died lost in the wilderness there, killed by the elements, the beasts, or by the "Vistling Wildmen" who, by most accounts are savage cannibals who grow fat on interlopers.
As one heads east, past the heart of the lands, strange pillars and columns can be seen rising from the grasses as a foreign testament to ancient times. Entitled the "Monaliths of Oor" these strange, intricately carved pillars call out to the inquisitive. No logic explains their placement and none can profess knowledge of thier mysterious origns, whether they stand as a solemn reminder of old battles, dedications to the elder gods, or as a final memory of an ancient race, none can say.
From the horizon, growing ever closer, are the mighty, white stoned ridges of the mountain range that ends the Outlands. The ominious and forboding.....
Dragon Bone Mountains......

I have spent most of the night preping and thinking about my regular weekend game and in the process I jotted down some random, half-baked thoughts about game planning and preparation that came to me..
What Im wondering is how far do you plan your campaigns and story lines (baring rail-roading of course)? Are you the type of GM that only develops the skeleton of a story allowing for a lot of growth and future development or does the step by step, start to finish approach more suit your style? The one where most of the major details have been worked out in advance.
Thanks, JSUN

... You could do it in Paint... if you had a tablet. My avatar never saw eraser dust or graphite. It's completely digital. Best $80 I ever spent. I'll be buying one soon enough. Till then I need th cash for gaming books and such. JSUN

If I had a scanner I'd probably be in on this. Sadly tho, my printer broke so that has to come first. Then, we'll see.

Im looking foreward to seeing some Anastas.
I'd put some of my work on the net but Im worried about the whole ownership thing. Someone once told me that once somethings on the net its hard to keep it mine. As well, I have been toying with submitting stuff to the Rifter for about the last year.

After entering the establismnet, Jeel made his way to a more comfortable (and safe) corner and scanned the room for droids, white suits, or trouble in general. Ah, if only time had allowed him to procure or produce a restraining bolt or two.
After all, it was that very lack of forethought that led him into this predicament. One that saw him far from the warm, golden sands of his home, the safety of his SandCrawler or the community of his clan.
Perhaps, Jeel thought, it wasn't entirely bad. Sure, he had yet to make off with the shiny protocol droid that had him enthralled, it DID present him with opportunities to learn about other droids and technology not commonly found on his native Tatooine.
Jeel continued to watch for any suspicious signs.
(OOC-Im using my search/perception here)

When the inspector left the vicinity of the ship, Jeel scurried down the ramp nervously, coming to rest near his companions.
Figiting with the hem of his robed sleeve, he shuddered ever so slightly at the chill air and allowed his eyes to adjust to the weak light that flooded his surroundings.
Being a stranger to these parts, Jeel waited for his companions to make a move before deciding on anything....

WOO HOO! ;D I don't know anyone who has watched Farscape and hasn't become a fan (well, as long as they have a tendency to like sci fi, that is). . Well count me as the first on your list Im not a fan. No matter what I just couldn't get into the show. I have mixed feelings about most of the characters. Crichton and Aeryn are so-so and Rygel would be cool if not for the muppet factor. Probably the only character that really doesn't bother me too much is Zhaan, the blue chick. The character I loathe the most is squid-man. I dont even care to remember his name. JSUN

That really terrible one with one of the Wayan's brothers in it? I thought it was absolutely atrocious!
I, along with most of my friends saw it opening night. Yep, the big premier. I wanted to die so bad after I saw it. to make it worse, as we were leaving I saw a little girl shrieking and crying because after watching it she realized god was dead.
I feel dirty just thinking about it.

Personally, I didn't care for it although it was better than the last one. I thought the movie was rushed in places glossing over stuff that might have made for a far more interesting plot (of which there was little).
They also could have touched on some of the ideas and pssibilities hinted to in the second movie. Not suprising that they didn't bother. Like the latest Star Wars trilogy they knew mony would come pouring in no matter what. So why try?
Im of the school of thought that says it is possible to have a kicking action movie with a escent plot.
