*Gemstone nods her head at Avana, then looks to Crista*... Gem listens to Crista, then quietly replies:
"Hmm... that sunrod is the only one that I have,... I've never needed another, because that one is reusable..."
*Gemstone reaches down and picks up a stray rock off of the ground*... She then continues...
"Perhaps Avana or Iggy could use a light spell on this *holds out the rock*... It would have the same effect."
She then mentions...
"You've got a point about those water creatures... from the size of the pool, there could be several of those things in it...."
Gemstone then adds one last comment...
"Perhaps we should see what's beyond the portcullis, then decide if we should continue ahead, or go to the other room..."

Hearing the others talking about the pool, Iggy looks at it with a demented gleam in his eye. It would be SO easy just to snap his fingers and make all the nasty water go away in a puff of steam... But there was also the possibility of that explosive gas to consider. Whoever had been cutting the cheddar, the mad genasi decided, would surely pay for it with a fireball up the arse... as soon as Iggy and his comrades were in a safe place.
"Don't mind if I does, heheheh!", Iggy replies, casually pointing at the rock. While he makes it seem easy, it actually takes quite a bit of effort for the sorceror to make the rock glow instead of set it ablaze. And glow it does, as a reddish light roughly the color of a hot charcoal briquette radiates from the rock. Oddly enough, the rock remains cool to the touch.
"Waitaminute...", Ignitius says, remembering the comment about the water creatures, "There's MORE of them water-spitters in there? Now I REALLY wants to burn that pool, heheheh..."

Gemstone thanks Ignitus for lighting up the rock, and listens as he mentions the Varrdigs... She thinks for a moment, then says:
"Hmm.. Perhaps we should go to the room with the pool first... Avana and Iggy both seem to like that way better... and Avana has a good sense about these things... besides that, there may be something helpfull in one of those chests?... After we collect what's in them, we can return to see what is beyond the portcullis..."
(Assumeing no-one objects)
We begin to head down the path to the room with the pool...
Gemstone wraps the brightly glowing rock in a piece of cloth, then tucks it into her belt pouch...
"Everyone be very carefull heading down this corridor... the ground is slippery, and there are no hand-holds..."
After speaking, Gemstone returns to the shadows, and moves to the side allowing the group to pass ... She waits untill she is at the rear of the group, then cautiously follows them.

Keely goes to investigate the portcullis, crossbow in hand, and checking the side of the cavern before using it for cover.

Noting the insane Gensai's even more deluded look, Avana turns to him, "No fire unless its certainly clear remember?"
Avana draws her twin blades, ensuring the others are with her, and carefully walks toward the room with the pool.

*Greghoul moves the sunrod to speak again*
"I'm ready when you guys are, just lead the way"
*At this point Greghoul is quite curiose as to what these water-spitters look like since he has only just heard of them from Crista. He flexes his arms as he waits for a reply*

*The party moves west, towards the room with the pool, all except for Keely, who has decided to go off on her own, down the eastern passage. The western corridor goes 100', it is damp, covered with lichen, the floor is slippery and there are no handholds anywhere along the walls. At the end, it opens up to a 100' by 100' room; the smell of rotting flesh is intense here. There is a pool (40' round) of liquid in the center of the room, slime covers the top of the still liquid.
Looking across the pool, at the west wall, a door of solid wood can be seen. In each corner of the room, there is a chest with, what looks to be, bundles of rags against them.*
*Going towards one of the chests, Crista jumps back as a small rat runs out from under the bundle of rags there. It begins running round the edge of the pool, squeaking, but it slips on the lichen which also covers the floor, falling into the flithy water. The rat screams with terror as the water starts to bubble around it; the terrified creature disappearing under the surface. However, no bones rise to the surface, indicating this liquid is not an acid.*

*Greghoul moves around the room slowly, checking for hidden places were a monster might be hiding but always keeps an eye on the pool, staying about 6-7 feet from the edge*

Avana stands ready for hostility, her eyes flicking tthrought the room. She turns to the skilled rogues, "Perhaps you canny check the chests for traps."

Gemstone watched (from the rear) as the group entered the room, her hands on the hilts of her swords prepaired to sneak attack any creatures that might present a danger...
Seeing that there is no immediate danger, and hearing Avana ask for someone to check for traps in the room, Gemstone moves into the room, and immerges from the shadows (away from striking range of anyone that is ready to strike at any surprises that may present themselves)...
Gemstone glanced over at Crista, and motioned with her head for Crista to check the two chests on the right side of the room, then motioned that she would check the two chests on the left side...
Gemstone then carefully moved over to left side of the room, and withdrew Kieva from its scabbard... Having seen the rat that Crista came across come out from under the pile of rags by the chest that Crista is nearest, Gem expects that there may be more surprises under the other bundles of rags...
She very carefully uses Kieva (her primary sword) to check the rags infront of the chest on the left side of the room, closest to the enterence (then she will check the chest itself... if there are no suprises...)

Seeing as the rest of the party went off in another directlion, keely backtracks crossbow in hand, and sneaks behind the party to provide cover if danger strikes.
She starts grumbling, but immediately stops.

Noting the insane Gensai's even more deluded look, Avana turns to him, "No fire unless its certainly clear remember?" Avana draws her twin blades, ensuring the others are with her, and carefully walks toward the room with the pool. "No burnies? Phooey. Why does everyone says that? Ain't like th' water's gonna melt ye all like..."A loud squeak fills the room as Iggy looks down at the pool just in time to witness the rat's demise. "On second thoughts...", he says with a nervous chuckle, "Maybe I don't wants to see what burnin' that stuff's like, heheheh..."The loony spellcaster moves himself to a safe place near the rear of the room, watching for signs of activity. He did not want to be the one in front when some nasty beast came a-charging, after all. He eyes the pool as if it was a live snake. "Just what IS that stuffs in there, heheheh? Flammable, is it? I'd test it out meselfs, but I doubts collectin' some would be healthy for ol' Iggy, heheheh..."

*As Gem and Greghoul touch the rag piles, loud moans suddenly fill the room. The rags moving, rising up to form humanoid figures, begin to move towards Avana, Gem, Crista and Greghoul (4 piles of rags = 4 mummies, 1 on each adventurer)*
*Juju becomes invisible and flies off of Iggy's shoulder, circling the room. Suddenly, there is a tremendous upheaval of the pond water, and a watery snake head slams itself down upon Keely, engulfing her in the slimey water. She has no time to react and finds it difficult to breathe as the water weird begins to drown her.*
(ok Iggy, here's a hint for you....water.....oxygen in water.....fire good....snicker, snicker)
