"Let us travel northwest until we reach the river, then follow it north to the lake. That would be the easiest route, indeed." Quarsupp turns and begins walking in that direction. "Let us make haste."

"Agreed, " Johnathon says in accordance to his own plans.

Rayn also nods her head in agreement of the route. She then begins to head off in that direction, sword at the ready in case of any foul folk they may happen upon.

You follow the map to the foot of the mountains where the river meets up. The trek takes another day and a half as the forest has gotten denser as you travel north. The water here is running rapids (flowing south of course) with jagged rocks and boulders protruding here and there. The terrain around the river (along this bank anyway) is also very rocky with many sharp points and large blocking boulders. The weather has taken a turn to the worse, and a gentle rain begins to fall about mid-afternoon, just as you come to the river bank. The wind behind the rain has been slowly increasing in velocity and it would seem a rather pounding storm is on the horizon. (You can see the flashes from dozens of lightning bolts in the distance and the crashes of thunder seem to be growing closer.)

*Piper looks up at the sky, and looks around at their surroundings, then turns to the rest of the group.*
Looks like we're in for a pretty nasty storm. Maybe we should find some shelter on higher ground in case the water starts to rise, and wait until the storm passes. What does everyone think?

Johnathon looks up at the storm, and sighs.
"Unfortunately, I must concur."
"Can we set up some sort of secure shelter before we are in the thick of things?"

"A shower would be nice," says Hannibal. "But I think that cover would be a good idea for you little ones."
((Btw, since a day and a half has passed, are we healed?))

Rayn, agreeing with the others, looks for a small crop of trees, well above the water line. Then pulling a knife from her belt, she begins to cut leafy branches from the surrounding trees. Once she has quite a number of them, she uses some thin rope from her backpack and begins to construct an improtu lean-to, to keep everyone out of the rain, if they so choose.

The rain sets in and appears to be back for the long haul. From your vantage point you can see the river picking up speed and rushing up along its banks. It doesn't seem to be swelling too much, but the rapids are now quite dangerous looking. It would appear that this rain might last a couple of days now.
There would appear to be a cave on the map if you should choose to shelter there. It was, however, marked as danger, but is that danger to the orcs, or danger in general. Rayn's lean-to is adequate shelter, but there's no telling how long it will survive the storm.

Johnathon hated being couped up in the lean to.
All this was doing was delaying the mission, and wasn't even sure if this was going to hold out.
"I would like to take a quick look at the cave, just confirm my suspicions."
"Anybody care to join me?"

Quarsupp stands freely within the rain, the water dripping down the scales on his blue-green face. He slowly looks up into the rain and grins. He says as he holds his arms out to his sides he says,"I do not know why you wish to hide yourselves from the watery element. It is extremely refreshing." He spins for a few moments allowing the rain to fall over him. "I would gladly make the trek with you, Jonathon."

"I do not think I will melt. Although, we should not take a sick girl out into the rain. She might get sicker. Someone must stay behind and watch. I will stay behind or go, it's up to you Johnathon." says Hannibal.

*Piper turns to the three that are going*
I too shall go along with you, as it is better than being cooped up in here.

Then it's decided, "Johnathon,
"A small group will investigate the cave, while the rest stay and watch the girl."
"I've brought a whistle in case we have trouble."
