okay folks, the first of the WoD's line ending books has come out. Gehenna for V:TM and Apocalypse for Werewolf:TA.
having gone through Gehenna i found a great deal of it left a bad taste in my mouth, and some of the four adventures felt if not forced then rather hastily thrown together. The "Wormwood" one above all nearly soured me on reading the whole thing. Kept flashing back to "the Stand" as i was reading it. Without getting into the religious overtones, felt it was far too heavy handed and something a ST would use really only if they just wanted the game bloody over with.
At this moment, I am still dissecting the other three stories/adventures.
Also, the section at the end on Caine is fantastic. All of the ways to use the "first vampire" described here are concepts ive seen used in one fashion or another in every Vampire chronicle ive played in or run. Though, for my money and amusement, my fav has to be the one linking Caine to Lovecraftian lore.
I have yet to delve too deeply into Werewolf, as im still dissecting Gehenna and reading too many books at the same time doesnt help if i want to use them at some point. But from what i have seen, and from the few comments ive heard regarding its contents, ive a feeling itll be played out better than Gehenna. Though given in both cases its supposed to cover the end of their worlds, i guess "better" is a relative term.
I cant wait until i get my hands on Ascension and Time of Judgement. Covers the endings of MAge and what's left of the WoD.
Note to those expecting metaplot points. They arent there. Simply, the indiviual authors have decided to focus on the ends of their specifics lines as something wholly indigenous to their lines. i.e. Vampires ending in V:TM, Werewolves ending in W:TA and little or no thought given to the other supernaturals in the end books. Which, IMO is both good and bad.
Good: focusing on how each species meets its supposed end is great.
Bad: everything that has thus far led to the end of the various WoD lines is BECAUSE of the metaplots they pay little more than lip service to in the Time of Judgement books.
Okay, anyone else gotten their hands on these, read through them got an opinion? If you dont buy 'em or borrom 'em, because frankly this is the biggest bloody thing to happen in WoD... hell... EVER. And there's gotta be someone else round here with thoughts on the matter.
