Played this game for years, mainly from the original Games Workshop production.
Its an excellent game based in a really dark gaming world, full of the Gods of Chaos, beastmen, orcs, goblins and jabberwocks.
Any other players out there.

I played once. Was an alchemist or something. Didn't get to learn the rules and experience the world much.

Never got the chance to try this one. Always wanted to, as I was an avid player of the ADVANCED Hero Quest game (which was a simplified version of it) Always sounded neat to me. And you forgot about the Skaven, nasty little rat men.

Really should try it, SD, its an excellent system, with a really dark setting (although still humourous) and one of the the best character creation systems.
This was my favorite game to GM as well as play.
The only problem is that its out of print again as Hogshead are no longer publishing but ho hum.

Any particular reason that Games Workshop wouldn't pick the game back up and try to develop new product for it?

I think they decided to concentrate more on tabletop games rather than roleplaying.
Theres more money in table top, as you need to buy a certain amount of models to play whereas with roleplaying games the core rule book could last u a lifetime.
There was also i believe the huge amount of support needed to keep the campaign world up to date.
After all they also produced the fantastic Judge Dredd roleplaying game amongst others.

Well to be honest I'm new to online role playing so I would rather role play if you don't mind
