While searching through my junk, I ran across an old copy of this game. Sparked my interest in playing it (or at least tinkering with the character creation and vehicles rules). Anyone else own this either as the older version or the Core Command update?

I haven't got either, but I do play the Gear Krieg RPG, which is based onthe same system, but you could try looking on the dream pod 9 site: www.dp9.com - it might have links to groups or something.

Marc Vezina and the gang aren't real good about keeping those links current. I don't want to fish through a bunch of dead links to try and find one that works.

[glow=teal,5,555]I gave Jovian Chronicles a good try for a little while, couple sessions worth... I couldn't get into it, something about the Dreampod 9 system just doesn't let a game work as an RPG, but more of a tactical game. Possibly a lot to do with little things that just aren't right... Like how a character with a high agility score and mediocre skill is a lot better at combat (of whatever type) than a character with mediocre agility and a high skill by a fair margin...[/glow]

How high of an agility score are you talking about? At the default "Reality Distortion Level" the maximum allowable bonus for starting characters is +2 You are also forgetting that the lower level character still has a greater chance of fumbling than the higher level character.

I reckon the system is okay, more or less.
