I wrote this poem recently and I didn't really think it was that good. be warned, it has some latin tags. It's the first part of the story of Tithonious and if people like it, I'll write some more.
The War of The Roses
The land so green, and the rose so red Spilt blood on a field of petals No magic in the deaths of men Yet they still come, again and again Lambs to slaughter Death stalks Tamarieal once again
Three mighty houses set in their ways The Setharian, so proud and arrogant The Remero, lords in their high castles and The Beltrans, nomads to the soul Flint on flint, the first spark and war The snake of evil coils tightly round the hearts of men
A single thrush sings its tune The raven pecks the eyes of dead A new atrocity caused by all But no voice for the fallen What hero adorns the dawn? A pawn in the violent game of gods
Tithonus steps silently in Death’s field Mouthing prayer to Aurora Aut vincere aut mori, a verbis ad verbera Bright steel gone, leaving rotten He shed a tear, for no one else would Twice crowed then gone, a flash of thought
Three days journey to Tyron keep Thought of friends long past Those yet begotten by war and foe Still Tithonus suffered on Setharain lords Nor soul or mind theirs, gold was gold And steel was steel

Dammit, this is your best yet (though I darresay you have a while to go before your Iliad).
I'm almost insulted you didn't show this to me first.

why thank you shura, but truth to be told, my grandfather was the first one to see this, and yes, my inspiration was the illiad in all its glory, yet I hoped to tell a darker tale of a land torn asunder by war. There will be more! soon, I hope anyways.
