This is something I wrote as a Epeloge to the story of Mathias... I guess it could give you all some more insight as to what he is like...
Mathias quietly walked down the darkening halls with his head bowed slightly. He had lost his powers and seen one of his oldest friends turn to darkness. It made him begin to think... What if he were to take to evil? As a Dragon born there was no limit to the destruction he could cause. Or if another was to fall who was dragon born? Though powerfull Mathias had to admit they were not all good beings.
Mathias was tall for a human and strong as an ogre. He had maintained a considerable amount of his powers but he was no longer the god slayer he once was. His deep sleed had stollen that power away from him. He held the white blade in his right hand. It was now dim as his powers faded back to what they were before he had begun his crusade. He felt vunerable again like a simple sword sliding across his throat could kill him. It felt good to be mortal again.
He looked along the dark halls of the ancient temple and sighed. Villains came every other day and went almost as quickly, some more resistant then others. But Mathias had not forseen the world dragons turning. He came to a dark wall covered in many runes and examined it for a moment. With a brisk wave of his hand the stone shifted and split appart and peeled open before him. He entered a great hall and saw a faint blue light shinning in the center. The light expanded only ten meters across but Mathias could not see through it. It was dim but not transparent. As though it were a glowing wall.
Mathias slowly approached it and stepped through and into the center. There stood the creature that had trained him in the ways of combat. Who had turned out to be one of the most powerful being in existance to most of the worlds suprised. Even mighty Tyri was forced to submit to this man when he proclaimed what he truly was. But now the man was thin, pale and bruissed. As though he had been tormenting himself over long periods of time over some reason Mathias could not perscribe.
Mathias held up one of his hands and beconned to his old friend.
"Conai... Conai can you hear me?"
The man stired and turned to face Mathias, a slight smile on his face. He ungulated slowly as his white eyes seemed to peirce Mathias' soul. His voice came in a dark metalic texture that would rip a normal mans sanity assunder.
"Yes... Yes I can hear you Mathias... one true immortal... Herrald of the profacies of old and the warrior of mortal kind... Yes... I can hear you."
Mathias could hear a slight hint of mochary in the mans voice. He took a step forwards and stretched out his fingers wanting to touch him. Conai was the last of Mathias oldest friends. After his love he was first, he wouldn't just kill the man for the crimes he had commited... He had to try to save the world dragon.
"Please, Conai return to the light you are to great a being to be twisted by the shadow! Don't give in to your darker emotions so easily. Please I beg you!"
Conai twitched and replied angrily.
"You beg me Mathias? YOU?! How dare you! I was one of the most powerful beings this world had ever known! I had it all; power, control, pleasure! Aside from the gods there was nothing out of my sphere of control! I worked for eons for what I had earned by what should have been birthright while you! YOU! You for being born of our kind and through some magical mixture managed to become a Dragon born! You! I Could only watch as you surpassed my powers and killed all of that which I considered unable to be reached! How dare you come here and tell ME what to do! I'll die first!"
Mathias took a step back and lowered his armoured hand and clenched it into a fist.
"I am afraid even the most powerful of us are not outside of the sphere of prophacy Conai... I have suffered much for what I have and it has brought me great pains to accomplish what I have."
He paused in Conai's silence and continued.
"I had become more powerful then any other true... But I am retireing from my possition... I cannot take the pain of this destiny anylonger... I should have gutted myself when my love did as so I could stay with her in the afterlife for the rest of eternity... My power is rapidly declineing... With the death of the gods I will revert to the power I had before the Dragon blood took full effect. But I cannot allow a corrupt being to simply take the place of what I suffered for to kill the gods."
Conai paused for a moment considering this new information. Mathias stood strait up, his eyes peering through the slits of his closed helm. The metalic voice returned.
"Your power is declineing is it? Well... Then I suppose that you will have no problems with me proving my own power by destroying you!"
A energy crackled into Conai's hand and he brought it to bear. Mathias knew that Conai could not be saved and risking his own life to try any further was foolhardy... The work of a savior was never done. He spun his sword around his side once and widened his stance defencivly. Preparing for yet another fight that held the fate of the world.
