Anyone play it for the PC? Its based in the Forgotten Realms setting and is an excellent RPG with a brilliant story line. It gets better when you play online or make your own module. Its one of the MOST customisable games out on PC, you can make anything from levels, to new monsters. (Anyone fancy the Balrog from LoTR's in your module?)
Anyways... anyone play?

Eh... I'm prematurely judging it based on gameplay and the fact that it uses 3rd edition rules. From what I've read, it looks like a Diablo 2 clone set to D&D rules with a hireling that can end up being stronger than your main character. I have the game CDs in front of me, though, and I'll be playtesting them over the next few days so we'll see...

[glow=teal,5,555]Great game, this one. The Hordes of the Underdark expansion is by far better than the original and the previous expansion... Epic levels are fun, although it is kinda annoying how a Level 40 Monk with Haste can run faster than someone playing as the DM Char.[/glow] [glow=teal,5,555]Online play largely depends on the servers you find... A lot of them are weak attempts are persistent worlds that don't hold your interest for long... A lot of the others are mild hack'n'slash runs, which are only amusing for so long...[/glow]

I played it a bit while I was in college. It was amusing, but I never found the time to go online or try any of the custom modules, only the single-player game. Yes, EK, the play is very similar to Diablo in that you click the mouse to attack, move, use items, etc, and the single-player module is a little lax on plot (not nearly as much as the Diablo games, though), but I've heard that the player-made modules are much better. And people have tweaked the rules all the time... I wouldn't be surprised if you found a module out there that twisted the rules into 2e or even 1e. Actually, you could say that NWN got me interested in PBMB games, so in a way NWN is responsible for me being here today.

Wow. This is quite addictive. I'm not endorsing the system (I still am the foremost defender of 2nd edition), but 3rd edition really works well for computer gaming (though it doesn't have the breadth that 2nd edition offered - not really necessary in anything but actual tabletop playing). I'm impressed

If somebody else started a game then I'd be tenatively interested. I don't have much free time lately, though, so I can't make any guarantees.
