Ok this is MH’s formally Non-formal officially unofficial whiney complaining rant about power gamers
Isn’t it strange how many of them are out there; they lurk in the shadows taking the guise of humans much as do doppelgangers. They almost always seem to have at least 2 or 3 god/goddess characters handy, or they are a most indestructible undead force. Their characters can do the most niftiest things such as have a movement rate that reads as such; Movement rate: Speed of Light “299,792,458 m/s (meters per second)” phew golly that’s pretty darned fast. Or they can just blink their eyes and the known world is filled with a blinding light that instantly slays all evil. Gee I want the xp for that group of kills heh. Or I swing my sword and my enemies know how mighty I am so much so that they begin to tremble and just disintegrate, such is my might. What? ! ? ! But you haven’t even hit anything yet. Or there are those that think that video game characters would make great table toppers and give them the same powers as in the video game, no matter what the guides say, and yes I know that the Player’s handbooks and various guides and rulebooks out there are just guidelines to the game and you can tweak it however you will, hell I have even tweaked things myself. However keeping it real and keeping the edge where your characters are mortal, granted they may be a high level character but even high level characters are mortal and can screw up and possibly get killed, that’s the fun part, taking risks, besting the seeming no win scenario by usin yer noggen and thinking your way out, even if it’s thinking up a battle strategy. Well maybe I have a point in all my ramblin or maybe the rest of the world just likes to play hackmaster. Shrugs ok I’m done
Ps: Resist the council of wyrms rulebook. Its just a mistake, a munckins haven, I mean why would any dm let a player play a dragon or half-dragon character and why would you want to for that matter. Once you get to the point where an umber hulk is no longer a scary character what the fun is that.
Ok I’m done this time..what…no really I am…ok you rolled a 1 that’s a miss…what? No you missed a 1 ALWAYS misses I don’t care what your THAC0 is. < blinks > how on earth can you possibly have done 350 points of damage ok no that’s just ridiculous.
Ok I’m really done now have a nice day
