I do. And it better not have some retarded ocean sounds added. But that is merely half as annoying as playing Mozart or Bach in a Romantic fashion. I guess I am a purist.

A bit more recent than most music that is dubbed classical, but I am a fan of Gustav Holst's The Planets symphony and a piece of music composed by Edgard Verese called Arcana.

The Planets is very cool. I'm still a fan of good 'ol Beethoven's 5th though.

Yeah, sometimes I feel like most people only appreciate the "fireworks", the catchy thundery stuff (or chicks that only dig the overly lyrical romantic pieces). Eldritch you should try listening to the entire 9th symphony as well, the first movement is quite dramatic and somewhat reminescent of the 5th first movement. Beethoven, to me, is the only Romantic composer (though he was also a Classical one) you don't have to listen to in small doses, as many tend to be overly dramatic or just try too hard, and it gets quite irritating.

Definetely. I like to listen to them a symphony at a time (the way they're meant to be heard) - there's no point to going one movement after another without understanding the connections between movements and the contrasts. I'll check out the 9th when I get the chance

I listen to a couple of classical songs - well... if O Fortuna counts as classica?

Sort of, though it was written in the 20th century.

When the mood strikes me, I break out my Andres Segovia boxed set to listen to his classical guitar recordings.

I think it depends from where you're from. In my town, there are a few radio stations that play classical music, but then they also have other kinds of music at other times of the day. But when I was in Brisbane, they had 2 radio stations that played nothing but classical.
