Something that I'm not always thankful for is that I make the best pizza dough that I know of in Halifax. Not bragging, but everyone who has had it, says it's the best.
Now I'll share it.
Preheat Oven to 425ºF
In a large bowl, put in 125ml of warm water, 2 ml sugar, and 8 ml of yeast (I use quick rise yeast)
DO NOT MIX YET
Add 2 ml salt (nesicary to activate the yeast) and 25 ml of oil (any type works, except motor oil . Stir
Add 300 ml of flour. (You can use pretty much any type of flour you want. I used to use white flour till my mother and sister got more into health foods and now we use spelt, which works. Gives it a nicer texture I find.) Stir till you have a roughly ball shaped mass of dough.
Knead for 5 mins or untill smooth. (You do know how to knead right? )
You can either let the ball rise and then spread it (If you want a thick crust), or you can spread it first and let it rise in the oven (For a thinner crust). Me wanting food quickly, just spread it and let it rise later.
Grease the a cooking pan (circuler or square, doesn't matter, I use a rectangular one). I sugest using oil to grease it mostly becuase I hate arosal (sp?) cans.
Spread the dough on the pan and top with your choice of toppings (My usuall include: pizza sauce, sliced pepperoni, sliced ham, pineapple, a small amount of onion, and mozzerala cheese).
Bake for 20-25 mins.
Enjoy.
You can do pretty much anything with the dough, one time I alowed a friend to make the dough while I ran to the store to get toppings, and he missed an ingredient, or something. When I got back and found out. We put it aside and started another batch and put both in together. The other botched batch we later ate like bread and it was quite good by itself.
I would like to credit my grade 7 family studies teacher for giving my a photocopy of the recipe. I still have it. Also tell me if you try this recipe what you think of it.
