Henriksen ringside for ALIEN VS PREDATOR Same actor, different franchise
------------------------------------------------ Source: The Hollywood Reporter
Actor Lance Henriksen, who portrayed the android Bishop in ALIENS and then Bishop's human creator in ALIEN 3, is getting another face-to-face encounter with the extraterrestrial bugs. Henriksen is the first to be cast in Paul Anderson's ALIEN VS. PREDATOR movie.
As far as can be discerned, the character that Henriksen will play in ALIEN VS. PREDATOR will not be connected to Bishop in any way. Instead, Henriksen is playing billionaire industrialist Charles Weyland, the man who assembles the team to investigate the strange subterranean structure discovered in the frozen wastes of Antarctica. Our own sources have told us that Weyland is indeed one of the founders of the Weyland-Yutani conglomerate, the company that owned the Nostromo seen in ALIEN, the colony on LV-426 in ALIENS and the prison facility from ALIEN 3. It's likely that the seeds of the Weyland-Yutani corporation, as well as their interest in the Alien lifeform, will be laid in Anderson's film.
This personally makes me very happy! I thought the AvP movie would be nearly completly disconnected from the ALIEN franchise. Even though it is a defferent movie, the linkage between the franchises is clearly there. AWESOME!!!

Sounds like a good movie to me. Ever since the idea first popped itself into my head a decade ago, I've been wanting to see this movie.

Before this movie comes out, you should read the Dark Horse comics of the AvP series. They're quite good, and the first mini-series was origianlly a draft of the movie, but was scrapped due to "budget considerations" at the time.

I have the original prints of Dark Horses AvP comic, #0 - #5, damn, I really need to find the rest. The movie is being directed by the Res Evil guy, my expectations have dropped from "YESSSSS GONNA BE THE BESSSSTTTT!" to "Like D'n'D the movie... All over again."

Saw Alien VS Predator a few weeks ago. Thought it was pretty darn good, only complaint I have is the movie was sooooo dark it was kinda hard to make things out.

The first fight scene between predator and alien was short, basically because the predator was taken entirely unawares.....and was skewered. But what we need to realize is.......this is the initiation hunt for the 3 predators. The next fight scene was, again, short, but it makes the viewer realize that, for hand to hand combat, the predator is outdone by the alien....hench the need for the shoulder cannon.
The human female and the final predator relying on each other became essential, and basically showed that the human female can be one hell of a warrior, and kick major butt. Being marked for her participation in the hunt showed us that the predator, though a hunter, held honor as a high reguard.
Now then......the emergence of the alien from the 3rd predator on the mother ship......AvP 2? Is this leading the viewer into the movie "Alien" where they found the ancient ship, alien skeletons on board, and the egg which started the cycle once again? Was that the ship and skeletons of the predators we met in AvP?
In other words, are we now being given prequels by the movie makers?
The movie itself was approx 1 1/2 hrs long, but Kaber, our son, and I enjoyed every moment. Go see it!!

Nope, don't think so. The skeleton found on the "alien" ship in ALIEN was of a rather large (giant) alien being. Since Predators aren't much bigger than humans, I don't think that's the intention. It just leaves them room to come out with a sequel if this movie goes over well.

Well for my two decicreds, I rather enjoyed the movie. It seemed faithful to both franchises, now if they'd bring in the terminator too..
