I wouldn't miss this forum, but I'd be happy to help out if we make one. I'm very friendly with my computer (most of the time, at lest)

Heh, yeah, the more technical knowledge we can spread around, the more we can slow viruses like myDoom. Jeeze, people, don't open attachments you weren't expecting!

doh i emant board not forum i meant a board on this forum not a enitrely new forum I knew what you meant. I don't know about anyone else, but I tend to use "board" and "forum" interchangably. To me, either one could mean the entire board (i.e SotD) or an individual board (i.e. General Chat). You figure out which is which by the context.

Not to be terribly mean or anything, but perhaps we could trim away some of the boards that are getting like zero loving first before we start adding new ones? Do we really need as many forums as we have?

That's my view, too, but I think a tech forum might actually be useful. Although, we are a gaming site (and not even computer games) and like I said before, I wouldn't miss it. We could move the "troubleshooting" part of the Public Notices and Policy board into this new one, and leave that just for, erm, public notices and policies.

I've had some small experience with troubleshooting, and would be game.

Sounds like we have more technophiles than technophobes around here. Is this gonna be worth it if only 1 out of every 5 folks on this board already knows a lot about computers?

Go for it.
I'll sign in. I don't have all that tech knowledge, but will comment on almost anything - been messing around with this stuff all my life (well - at least the part of it that I can remember, that'll be two weeks or something like that).
Common sense works with computers too.

Common sense works with computers too. Considering so many people have major problems understanding computers I'm gonna have to say, not really. There's a particular brand of "common sense" that works for computers, and in my experience some people have it and some people don't. Whether you can learn it or it has to do with the way your brain is wired I still don't know.
