Hey it's Saturn Day again. Or rather the start of Sun Day (just about). Today was sort of busy.
Woke up early (for me any time before noon is early and woke up at 8:30 in morning today). Went to have pictures taken with Mom and Sky (older younger brother, 13 instead of 3) and Jamey (younger brother of best friend who has become close part of family, stays at my mom's for large pieces of the summer most summers).
After that was done with, I had a little down time to play around on mom's computer while she took a nap. Sometime I'm supposed to show her how to save email to hard drive, so she can clear out her inbox. Why she doesn't throw all email away without regard to whether it can be seen again is a mystery to me.
After down time, went to a Ghost Supper. Mom's side of family has Native American heritage (I'm approximately 1/8th Potawatomi), so we attend events like this every now and again. A Ghost Supper is a Native American observation this time of year to honor those who have passed on.
Ideally, it would be celebrated outside with a big fire and everyone would make a plate for themselves and then take a bit of food to offer to ancestors by burning it in the fire. In practice, what we've got is one ancestor plate for whole group that will be left outdoors overnight and then buried in the morning. Food was okay but very potluckish.
Last Saturday/ Weekend
Last Saturday I had to work starting at eight in the morning. Fortunately it was only a six hour shift. Unfortunately it was only the second six hour shift for that week and the first six hour shift of the week was probably more like four hour shift. Fall is slump time for fast food, so schedule is cut very short.
On the plus side had Frigga Day off and attended Halloween/ Samhain party put on by Grand Valley State University's pagan group Ways of the Earth. Met a cute girl there and asked for her phone number and email address. Sent her a couple of emails since then. Nothing definite going on there, but she knows I think she's cute and seemed happy to hear it.
By the by I am not a current Grand Valley Student, but I did go there for a year before I flunked out and still have some friends there.
And as for Alicia, the Barnes & Noble girl mentioned in earlier posts, I found out she already has a boyfriend, so I decided to look elsewhere.
