Note: this combat rules apply to all of my Online RPGs without any exception. The main purpose of them is to allow any character a chance to dodge the blow, or shrug off the spell, and to allow me (as DM) to say the last word in any combat situation, depanding upon your characters's strengthes, weaknesses and most importanly actions. Don't worry, I will be fair DM when it involves combat. If you have any disagrements with my judgement, please either PM me, or post your opinion in suitable Brainstorm thread.
BRO's Combat Rules:
1. If you attack somebody (Monster, NPC or PC) with either normal weapons or magic, you just post what kind of attack takes place. Then, I will post resolution of this attack. Don’t worry; I will be a fair DM. Don’t try to post resolution of your attack yourself.
For example: you should not post: “I strike Ogre with my greatsword, slashing him across the torso”; instead you should post: “I strike Ogre with my greatsword, aiming at his torso”. It is for me to decide, whatever your attack was successful or no, not for you.
2. Likewise, if you try to defend (dodge from physical attack or ray spell, shrug off effect of mental spell with your willpower, use magical resistance against spell and so on) from any attack from somebody (Monster, NPC or PC), you just post what kind of defense takes place. Then, I will post resolution of this defense. Don’t worry; I will be a fair DM. Don’t try to post resolution of your defense yourself.
For example: you should not post: “I nimbly dodge strike of Ogre’s greatclub”; instead you should post: “Being a nimble person, I am trying to dodge strike of Ogre’s greatclub”. It is for me to decide, whatever your defense was successful or no, not for you.
3. Respect me and other players. Not everybody may be able to post as frequently as you are. If you post your attack, but don’t receive any response to it from either player or me, don’t try to assume anything, just wait. In critical situation (i.e. when player don't post for a week or more), I will PM him or her and/or sent to him or her e-mail letter, telling him or her that his or her presence is needed.
