I've been tossing this idea around for a little bit and I wanted to see if there was any sort of "market" for it. Who would be interested in forming a group project to make up either a new campaign world (probably for D&D, but maybe for another system) or a whole new gaming system? There would be one or two people in charge of the project, but it would be a colaborative effort of all the Shadow Warriors who are interested.
So, what do you guys think? We can work out the details of how this'll work later if there's enough interest.

*places vote as Yes, but...* I'd be glad to help out! But, the only thing I'm really good at is character stuff. Stories, monsters, weapons, stuff like that. Geography and politics I SUCK at. I'd rather deal witht he down to earth little rouge who just pickpocketed your mom on her way to the store, got caught, escaped as usual, and moved on to the next town. I can also do some gods and stuff, but when it comes to factions, and this king and this group and ugh, it's all so... boring. Can't stand that part. I do some artwork as well so

I'll help out. I'm huge into character development and political manuevering, so I can help out there. I'm really big onto the whole roleplaying aspect, so most things dealing with that directly are my forte.

I can supply concepts and ideas, but some one else will have to work the mechanics out for me. A personal idea I had was to include the Shai-Halude from Dune, onto Athas.

Ooh, got a couple of yesses already. Don't worry about only being able to do part of it. That's the point of a group project. Folks work on what they're good at.

I'm interested, but I have a lot of other things going on, so I'll just toss in a few ideas now and then. I'm not quite sure where my strengths lie. It's certainly not in coming up with original names as is evidenced in my D&D Homebrew World.

Sure, sounds fun. I could probobly do up some creatures for either monsters or players, I have some ideas kicking around in my head. I can't draw to save my life however so someone else'll have to be drawing. I also like history (both real world and fantasy), so I could probobly contribute to that.
If I had any artistic talent, I have some really nice ideas that I would draw up, but alas.
Oh, and a question. What time period would this world/system be in? ie: Midevil, Renisanse, Modern, Future, Post-Apocalyptic... etc.

That's one of those details that haven't been worked out yet. Right now I'm just judging the interest. We can decide on the time period, mood, system, etc. once we get enough people.

I'll help any way you want me to Mekuri but too keep it simple and eayer for newbie you might want to keep it in the D20 system but I would think it would be better to to combine 3.0 and 3.5 mainly keep some of the rules from 3.0 and the spells but add the class change from 3.5. But hey if you need any help what so ever I'm your huckleberry (ok really need to stop watching tomdstone)

oh I go with a medevil time line but thats me in a world with lots of god and goddess, or you could try a tatol fanty world with only a few gods and goddess but lots of stuff to do. But the one thing your going to have in it is elfs yup no way to get around that. In Genco last year they tested a couple of gaming systems but they didn't not inculed elves and that was the one thing that the poeple wanted. But then again that is if you wish to markert it and make money form it too.

I was actually thinking that it would be better to do a whole new system, that way everyone who was interested would start off on the same footing. I was thinking we could try and make up a system specifically geared towards play-by-post, since that's what we do on this board for the most part. Something that would deal with the problems we have while playing online, such as combat taking literally forever to resolve. We'd probably need somebody who's good at making up game mechanics, though, and I haven't seen any rules lawyers offer to help yet. Let's wait a little longer and see who else turns up.

We could role-play combat... Maybe we could just make it uber-realistic, WoD-style, so that combat would almost never last more than a few posts.

Yeah, I was thinking something along those lines, that combat wouldn't last more than a few posts. We could also try and make strategy more important, since players have much more time to plan their actions with posts rather than live roleplaying. Also related to that, it would be easier to keep track of more stats (especially for combat) because everybody has more time, so the system can be more complicated. Not that it needs to be more complicated, but it can be. More complicatd rules make for a more realistic game.

Perhaps, but I'm always in favor of less stats, less rules, and more focus on the story. Improv works just as well if you have a system dynamic enough to encompass enough possibilities.
