House Rules and Notices:
1) Please engage in positive criticism or conversation. If there are any questions, comments, or concerns, players are reminded that the DM is always ready to answer them.
2) 2nd Edition will be the primary basis of this campaign. 3rd Edition characters are welcome, but note that prestige classes will be deeply scrutinized.
3) Considering the philosophical nature of the planes and the need to develop dynamic, lifelike characters, players are asked to be IC as much as possible, including in the non-game threads.
4) Please post only actions that you wish to take. The DM will determine their success or not.
5) Players are reminded that the planes are a very tough place, and that they can not expect either mercy or quarter, both from their enemies nor from the DM. The DM will work with players to make their playing experience more enjoyable when possible, but will also run the game in such a way to reflect the true, cruel nature of the planes.

Combat Rules:
1) Combat procedures will follow the 2nd edition format with Combat and Tactics Option.
2) Players are asked not to post combat actions using D&D terminology, but to describe it as well as they can and then put an OOC remark at the end of their post listing their attack.
For example:
Instead of - "Daen casts a magic missile spell at the ogre."
Use - "Daen's hands fly through the air making arcane gestures while his whispers words of ancient doom. Four bright bolts fly from his hands, screaming their way towards the ogre's hairy chest."
<OOC - Spell Cast: Magic Missile. Target: Ogre>
Or something to that extent.
3) Good descriptions will be recognized and rewarded. This is especially true in the case of special attacks, which may be penalized if accompanied by a poor description.
4) Combat will be realistic and brutal. Despite all your levels and HP, characters are still mortal, and die just as easily as the next guy. HP and combat levels will be taken into acccount as a degree of general combat proficiency, but this will not stop a sword from chopping off a limb if you're unarmored and your enemy gets a hit.
4a) HP will not be utilized as a degree of toughness. It will be used as a guideline for damage absorption, but not more than that.
5) Everyone gets a single, unchangeable action during any given combat round (unless otherwise informed by the DM). If you are making a combat post, please make sure that it is exactly that you want and do not post until everyone else has had a chance and the DM posts results of everyone's actions.

The Salt Mephit tavern, the first IC area is now open. The thread is designed for the characters to meet and interact with each other. It will also be used as a testing ground where everyone can get the individual feel of their characters and make them stand out from the rest of the crowd.
