Five tarnished silver coins are dropped neatly into the barmaid's hand. K'Zan turns, takes a swig of the water and places the glass down on the nearest table.
Directing his attention towards the three bubbers, he begins to draw shapes in the air and mutter under his breath -
<OOC - K'Zan casts Improved Phantasmal Force>
- moments later, a tall, fair-haired woman steps out from the shadows and strides towards the drunken trio. She stops, coughs to get their attention, smiles sweetly and beckons to them.

The tiefling casually wanders off into the crowd, meaning to position his way behind the 3rd armored man who himself came up behind the woman.

A tall, comely woman appears out of the crowd, beckoning to the three drunks. As soon as she appeared, though, she vanishes into thin air.
None o' yer bloody magic in here, berk! yelled the bartender, angrily, towards K'Zan.

<-- To Selenya only -->
The man behind you is only about 4 feet away and begins to advance closer. He has a yellow-toothed, maniacal grin on his face.
Sit down, lassie he whispers, lustily.

The tiefling approaches the drunken man from behind. His hands quietly slip out from under his cloak, each bearing a fang-bladed dagger. The one in his right hand, its blade a fang the color of onyx, quickly slips up around the man's throat while the other, a jagged red-fanged blade, finds it's way into an opening in his armor beneath his armpit. He holds this pose, not yet damaging the man and looks at the other men as he states flatly, "Continue bubbers..." He pauses then continues, "...please."

The drunk behind Selenya freezes and his smile changes to a disgusted grimace.
Back off, berk he murmurs.
His two companions rest their hands on their swords, and the other 5 drunks at the bar begin to turn around, beginning to get quite upset.
The copper-armored official in the corner shifts in his seat, bringing his sword to his lap.

The woman made a qucik step away from the the man who sneaked behind her, and turned to face the rest of the drunks.
"I suggest to stop this here." She says, and now her voice has a steel it lacked before. "I have no wish to kill anybody, but I'll do it for the sake of the one who helped me. It will take me just a few words, to wound or kill you; you'll hardly have time to draw your swords before it happens."
[OOC:]
And I mean it; if the two drunks will draw their swords, I am going to cast a spell... And not the one I intended to cast before.

The bar continues its business as usual, used to its fair share of conflicts, but the copper-armored man sitting at the table behind Selenya stands up, proudly displaying a symbol of a red sun encircled by green dragon wings on the arm of his tunic. In his left hand, he holds his sheathed sword, a pale, glittering weapon emanating an odd silver glow. The glow seems to be matched by the dull, copper sheen of his chain mail.
You there, woman. he states in a strong tone, pointing at Selenya Sit down.
He faces the drunks and lifts up his long sword, scabbard and all to present it towards them.
GET OUT he commands, with a presence so strong that the 3 drunks begin to move instinctively towards the door without need for further coercion.
He continues to turn around the bar to face Spec. His off-hand goes to his sword hilt and pulls it free from its scabbard, revealing a blade so pale white as to be nearly translucent.
For brandishing a weapon inside a public establishment I subject you to a fine of 20 gold pieces.

The woman remained standing, for the case if the fight would errupt; however, she was visibly happy that it didn't happen. She was less the pleased the next moment, however, as the copper-armored man now turned on the man who came to her help.
"Forgive me for interfering, good sire, but I believe that the good man there did nothing wrong." The woman said to the copper-armored man. "He drawn his weapons, it is true, but he did so only to protect me from those who were the cause of all this; and if not for him, I could be lying dead on this very floor by now. Is protecting a victum is really a crime around here?"

The copper-armored man keeps his sword pointed at Spec, but turns to Selenya to answer her question. His eyes are narrow and focused as if this is the only thought occupying his mind.
Regardless of his motive, he has disturbed the peace. This is in violation of Sigilian law and is subject to a 20 gold fine. I will not release my quarry until he has been subjected to his punishment.

"Weren't the ones who all but openly attack me the first to disturb the peace?" The woman asked, genuinely surprised by a strange law. "Or was the good man supposed to let those brutes to kill me first, and drawn his weapons only then?"
The words "What kind of law is this?!" remained unspoken, yet they can be clearly read from the woman's face.

They were exercising their right to free speech, which the law does not control. Your "savior" provoked them by threating their lives. If I wasn't here, the situation might have gotten out of hand. continues the offical, his sword arm unwavering Now no more! Or I'll deem you guilty of interfering with the administration of a punishment.

K'Zan sighs, mildly offput - if not actually annoyed - by the bar's rules. Still, the brawl had apparently been averted... then he sees the woman talking back to the Mercykiller. He sighs again, and mutters:
'Stupid Clueless... you don't question Red Death, 'specially not if they're holding a big sword.'
He walks up to the growing confrontation and addresses the half-elf:
'It's hardly a very harsh punishment, and if the gentleman currently being held by the officer cannot pay the fine, then I'm sure we can all chip in. No need for you to get dropped in The Prison, is there?'

”The things were getting out of hand anyway, while you just sat there enjoying the show! We were about to start killing each other, and would do just that, if only the man with daggers did not intefere!” Was what the woman was about to say when K'Zan approached her. Fortunately, the brief second for which K'Zan distracted her was long enough for the woman to realize how pointless what she was about to say was; the local “guardsman” was obviously as steadfast as an oak, and appeared to have about the same amount of brains too.
”Very well then,” The woman’s voice sounded calm now, though not without a hint of well-concealed anger, ”If this is your idea of justice, so be it. I’ll pay for the man who very likely just saved my life, this is the least I can do to thank him.”
The woman reached into one of the purses that hang at her belt, and produced twenty gold pieces, which she handed to the “guardsman”.

"No!" The tiefling stops the woman as she begins to hand the man the gold, "Your charity is not required and is of no one's concern but my own." His hands replace the daggers back somewhere inside his garb and return with a small pouch, of which 20 gold pieces are taken from. Before handing them over he says, "I trust those other men will be fined for... disturbing the peace, as well? For if I am to be fined for threatening their life, then so must they be fined, for the actions and tone of voice with which they chose to press onto the woman clearly conveyed a threatening atomosphere. And I'm sure this woman would not have felt her life in danger had they not pressed upon her. Weapons can come in more ways than physical form, good sir...and with their combination of actions and tone...then I must declare that their "weapon" was fear, by entrapping the woman. And by acting upon one to bring them fear, is to brandish that weapon in public. And to actively cast that emotion upon someone is to attack them psychologically. So, in essence, they...made the first attack. On this woman here. And if the... law... does not defend one against attacks of the mind, then it is not much of a law at all. Am I correct? Laws are created to protect the citizens...and you chose not to protect this woman here, so you are in violation of failing to protect this woman, and now making demands of me to pay my jink to fill your coffers, am I correct then, that your intentions are but for your own monetary gain? Would the Mercykillers overlook one threatening act over another? It would be in bad taste for a law-pusher such as yourself to fine one threatening act while allowing another to walk right out the door, hmm? I will give you your gold, but I must request that the law you provide be fair in this matter."
