very well, just let me converse with my marshell for a moment and i'll get back to you... but for now, here's what i know: In a nutshell... Throkmorton, the leader of the Combine and Hellstrom Industries discovered a way to use ghost rock as weapons, and this happened around the current time in RL, so naturally, ghost rock was used to enhance nuklear weaponry, creating Ghost Nukes. Now, Throckmorton can be held resposible for the current state of affares in HoE, because, eventually, the civil war heated up again, (thats right, it never stopped) and both the North and the South, along with the rest of the world ended up launching Ghost Nukes and Tactical Nukes at everyone else. The result, Jugement Day. The use of all those Ghost Nukes alowed 4 creatures loose from the Hunting Grounds, the Reconers. The Reconers are litereally, the four horsemen of the apocylps, they pretty much demolished what was left of the states after JD, and then disapeared. The only city to survive in the sense of the word was Salt Lake City, now known as Junkyard. The US is now, pretty much a radioactive desert in most areas. There's some new players in the world too, at least I think they're new. The Junkers, who tap into the Hunting Grounds to power their divices, the Sykers, mostly former Spec Ops soldiers who are trained in psionics, some where sent to Banshee to fight there, but that's another story (also, all Sykers are bald), there's the Templars, basicly paladins, though they are far better then D&D paladins cuase they only help people who they think diserve their help, they are not above turning down a request for help. There's also Doomsayers and Doombringers, as far as I know, only Doomsayers are willing to live by "norms", both of them though are mutant Rad mages, one of their abilities is actually called Nuke (a friend used it and ended up rolling 100+damage), they also glow . Those are the main special characters, there's always going to be gunslingers and whatnot. In a suplement that I have, titled oh so apropriatly: Cyborgs, it details another group of survivors, cyborgs. As for factions... well the North and the South still don't get along great, though there's not really a lot of people on either side. There's, obviously, the Reconers, nobody's seen them for a while though, but their minions, the manitous are still around, as are servitors. Then there's the Combine, headed by Throkmorton, they are the largest, survivor faction, and they are devoted to ruling the world. Not very friendly people either. There's the survivors themselves, mostly in scattered settlements trying to survive. There's the Templars, with their HQ at Boisy (I think...). The Junkers, mostly a loose connection of the mad scietists. The Sykers arn't really a faction per se, most of them are independent. Junkyard heads a large faction, trying to restore government to the US. There's likly more, but I don't have the books with me. It can be summed up as Deadlands in the apocalyptical future. I'll have more when I can get a hold of the marshell of my current game and get him to give me the offical rundown, I'll then relay it to you guys. As for Banshee, it's another planet somewhere. Throkmorton was able to open the "Tunnel", a sort of wormhole to Banshee, and many settlers headed there, as is common, there where rebelions among the settlers, not to mention the natives, the Anouks I think. They wern't too happy with the humans. Near Judgment Day on earth, the Tunnel closed and the settlers where trapped on Banshee along with the Anouks.

I accidentally bought the Hell on Earth sourcebook, along with a bunch of DL character guides. So, I have a quick question.
Do original DL classes work with Hell on Earth, or will it need some modding?

heh, actually, one of our starting players played a Huckster. though he kinda dropped off the face of the earth after the first session(the player, not the character). i don't know if our marshell had to change things around or not.
