"Perhaps,.....but I still bet Trent screwed me over on that part!" Helen mused and crouched to the floor, getting the maps out of her backpack and unfolding them.
She stood up afterwards to see what Linus was up to.
"Intelligence from MI5 was certain that the entire Raccoon City was still having normal power fed here,......we deduced it was to enusre no other experiments were unleashed or any containment breaches weren't notified to us,......we suspect from other Umbrella facilitys that B.O.W's are kept in suspension chambers,......we don't want to let all of these things get out,.......it's hard enough containing the B.O.W's MI5 recovered from this place to ensure none would venture out into the other towns by here."
Whilst she was saying this, the computers did flick on,....and it was obvious Helen was telling the truth,...this place was desolate but still wired up.
Who knew what horrors were kept at bay because of the electronic devices and containment chambers etc.

Linus nodded silently as his computer booted up, skipping past all the startup crap.
"It's a good job the juice still is on here then..." he mused... not sure whether he was saying it aloud or inside his mind.
He opened DOS mode on the computer, fairly sure they were likely to have a password on the machines, and not being in the frame of mind to crack it.
He found the passwords file, memorized the admin log in password and then booted up the computer normally, logging in with the admin user name and password when prompted.
"Lessee here...." he muttered hunting through the directories for the maps of the building.

As Linus was searching through the files on the computer,...the screen went blank,.....and the computer seemed to shut down,.....there was no hum of the processor nothing,............

Helen looked startled,....and she leaned over to look at the computer screens wiring.
"It all checks out,.....and look!" Helen pointed to the monitor,.....the light which indicated the screen was switched on was there,....bright green/yellow in colour too.
"Something's fishy!" Helen said,...but it was more of a growl,.....she was getting ticked off.
Clutching her shotgun, she seemed to dismiss the computer as she turned her back to the area and walked over collecting the map from the floor.
"We'll have to hope for the best then,......the central computers which Dr Birkin used always had a protected inner system,....which is why MI5 and MI6 couldn't hack into the Raccoon City computer systems via other normal routes,......I guess you'll have to do what we feared."
"You'll have to hack into Dr Birkin's main computer in the labs,......otherwise from that piece of junk infront of you, we'll never get anything huh? Are you up to it though Linus?" She asked him.
"This is what my commander wanted though,....to see if you could do just that, and then hire you accordingly to break into other facilities and break down their systems. Guess he'll get his way again." She smiled trying to make light of the situation.

Linus jumped as the computer suddenly turned itself off, the monitor going into standby mode.
"What the fuh..." he remembered Helen in the room with him "...fuh-lipping hell was that?"
He glanced at her as she said about making her way into the main lab and nodded tentatively.
"Great... okay..." he unholstered his gun and stood ready. "Sounds good to me - might be able to get some target pratice in too." he winked to let her know he was joking. He didn't want an encounter any more than she did.

Helen smiled,....she knew Linus was being his usual optimistic self; creating a joke to lighten the situation.
"Don't hog all the fun!" She waved her finger at him, and laughed slightly.
Perhaps it may be the last time they could do so?
~Whoever did that couldn't be a Re3,.....or even a Hunter the timing was too precise,......and way too obvious to not be a T-Virus and/or G-Virus creature. The chances of that are probably several million to one,......this has to be human influenced,...........we may have to encounter Umbrella troops.~ Helen was thinking as she consulted the map and decided to venture to the door on the left wall,.....it indicated that if they were to follow the corridor and venture down into the basement after a few more rooms and corridors; they'd reach the train station connecting the labs to the office they were in.......however,...it wasn't a train actually,...it was more like a huge lifting mechanism going down hundreds of feet through solid ground.
Umbrella constructed all this in secret unknowing to the Raccoon City civilians.
She waited for Linus to approach her position by the left wall's door, it was a chrome piece, and a silver doorhandle,....no card swipe or nothing,.....so it was general public and staff accessable in theory. She held up her STI Eagle as she held the door handle,....nodding to Linus to indicate she would quickly open and then take point forward with her weapon ready to fire anything that was hostile.
~Why would Umbrella troops be here though if it was them,.....and if they cut the building computers they must know we're here,......damn I hate being out of control in the situation,.....too many posibilities,.....and too many darn enemies, virus orientated or not.~
~Don't worry,....I won't let anything happen.~ Helen thought as she waited for Linus. She didn't want to say that aloud to him, encase it scared him off from the mission,.....to think that humans were after them both aswell as monsters would put the scares on anyone,.......but she reasured herself of her task to protect her comrade no matter what!
~Come on Helen,....he's a darn bright guy; there's definately something going on upstairs in that mind of his if he can break into MI5 security whilst drunk,.....he's bound to think there's something darn fishy about that coincidence of a computer shutdown. Face it,.....no B.O.W could do that,.....not within a heck of a lot of chances,.......I just hope he's ok. Don't smoother Helen,.....it'll only end with the mission failing if you show your concerns to their fullest!~ Keeping herself in check she waited for Linus.
(OOC - N.B Re3 = Licker.
Oh and also,...gyah,...I was reading more of my Resi 3 book at work today on my lunch and "there's definately something going on upstairs " is a quote from Ada talking about Leon Kennedy, where's she thinking that he knows there's something up with her story.)
