Hey, I'm new...I'm still learning to play D&D, but the version I'm learning is AD&D...2e, I think it's called. Anyways, I think I need a little time to learn completely before I start playing actual games. I looked around, and I think that for now I would be fit for games that don't do actual stats, but run through the game...

Greetings Rhim! Welcome to the Shadow! Take a look around, join a game or two, and remember to have fun! There are plenty of people here who would be happy to help you learn the rules of AD&D (also called 2nd edition or 2e, as you said). Don't let your newness to the game stop you from joining one. Just ask the DM if they'd be willing to help you along, I'm sure most of them will be accomodating. But if you just want a good roleplay experience without having to worry about stats or dice then you should check out some of the games in the Freeform Forum. If you have any questions about how things run here, don't be afraid to ask. I'll be happy to help you along.

=) Thanks! I think I'll start out in the freeform forum, then later on go into regular games. I still need to know how this site takes the stats, though, so I can make a character

There's no specific ways to submit a character for a game here. Each DM has a different way they want characters. Most games have a place to post your character stats, some DMs want you to send them a personal message with the stats, and others (some freeform games) don't even require that you write up stats at all. You can usually find that information in the game or brainstorm thread somewhere, but if in doubt send a message to the DM of the game you want to join and ask them how they want you to write up your character.

Welcome Rhim. If you're interested, I'm (semi-regularly) posting a tutorial for 2nd edition in the AD&D board - it might help ease the transition into understanding the game. Have fun and remember, avoid smileys like the plague! ^_^

Wow, looks like somebody took EK's advice to heart! (Especially to annoy EK! ) Anyway, greetings and welcome into the Shadow of the Dragon, Rhim! Seems that Merkuri and EK offered you quite a lot of help and advices already, even though one of these advices (i.e. "avoid smileys like the plague" ) isn't especially useful one. Smileys are fun!.. ...And so, I'll just advice you to enjoy your stay here and not to forget to have fun! Life in the Shadow of the Dragon can be both cognitive and interesting!

Welcome Rhim! Glad to have yet another new face among the crowd. Haven't read any posts here so sorry if I reiterate something that has already been stated. There are statless games in the Freeform section or you can always ask around and see if someone has a statless game brewing somewhere whether it be over IM's or some other forum. Anyways, enjoy your stay, hope to see you here for a long time.

Merry Meet Rhim and welcome to the Realm. I see you've already gotten the very best advice dealing with rping. Feel free to wander around the various forums, and don't be afraid to ask questions, someone is always around to give you help.
PM any mod or admin, and we'll be more than glad to help you out.
Hmmmm, I believe the folks in "The Cellar", a 2e based rp thread in the Freeform Forum could use a little help.....you might want to check that one out.

Of course we're friendly here... just don't leave shiny objects laying around. They tend to disappear.
Good to see that the REAL version of ADnD is still being played.
Welcome to you.
