A Liquid Thanksgiving: Turkey in the Straw Tue Nov 9, 9:12 AM ET Oddly Enough - Reuters -Yahoo News Page SEATTLE (Reuters) - Seconds, anyone? AP Photo After the startling success of its turkey and gravy-flavored soda during last year's U.S. holiday season, a Seattle soda company will be serving up green beans and casserole, mashed potatoes, fruitcake and cranberry flavors. "Last year, the response to our Turkey and Gravy Soda was overwhelming, but we really didn't have side dishes to go with it," Peter van Stolk, chief executive of specialty soda maker Jones Soda Co., said on Monday. The tan-colored turkey and gravy-flavored soda sold out last year in three hours after it was offered on the Web and later fetched prices over $100 on eBay Inc. This year, Jones Soda is offering the turkey and gravy sodas as a set in 15,000 "holiday packs" for $16 each, complete with utensils. Thanksgiving, a U.S. holiday which falls on the fourth Thursday of November, typically features a dinner with turkey, gravy and other condiments. "The average consumer doesn't have the time to prepare a full turkey meal," van Stolk quipped. Particularly noteworthy on the menu is the green beans and casserole soda, van Stolk said, adding, "We're proud that we accented this dish with fried onions." The pack was available nationwide at limited retail locations, including Target Corp. stores, beginning on Monday. The new flavors are in addition to the company's traditional flavors: green apple, bubblegum and crushed melon. ok, where's the vomit smiley?

Well Kaber and I will be celebrating our first Thanksgiving together, and we intend to go all out.....a real roasted turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet pototoes, veggies, biscuits, gravy and cranberry sauce. Dessert? Pumpkin pie with whipped cream of course.
But the best part, the family will be all together, Kaber, me, our son and my mom......it's a small family, but we'll be together on this wonderful holiday.

No matter how small, it is always good to be with family for the holidays. We are not looking forward to the holidays, as it will be the first without my mother in law. She was the one that always kept this family together, and made the holidays extra special for everyone. This year, instead of going to my mother and father in laws for Thanksgiving, we will be going to my sister in laws, because no one wants to see that empty chair at my father in laws table. Her presence is greatly missed, even moreso for me than I thought possible, but I know we will all get through it.

There is such a thing as TOO MUCH innovation. I heard about this on the radio a couple of days ago and I just thought it was nasty. Anyway, I'll be heading up to Waukegan for Thanksgiving with my aunt and uncle. Good food and good fun.

Yeah, I heard about this stuff and can't believe that people would actually buy it...
As for having a small Thanksgiving, it's just going to be my wife and I. Since it's just the two of us I'll probably make Cornish Hens... Less leftovers that we wouldn't have room for.

((((LB and wifey)))) Next year just might be a little larger in the family number.
((((Rowan)))) A loss of a family member is always hard around the holidays. Remember, I have off all Thanksgiving week, so give me a call if you need to just chat.
