Apparently the guy used an emulator rather than a real Nintendo, using the Japanese version of the game. It is still freaking impressive.

That, or the guy was actually in Japan using a Japanese Nintendo.

I find Mario harder on the PC, stupid keyboard, those games needs pads. Actually, he probably does have a pad? Dunno, either way, it was expertly done, but surely he had some kinda god cheat....

Here's a link with a board explaining how it was done. Basically frame by frame playing and saving, and lots of reloading. Since all frame are recorded, they are then played at 30 frames per second in a movie. It took 2 years to be done. Well, I should just give the link: www.sohh.com/forums/showthread.php?t=410941
