Fynn caught the watch and the pencil, and rolled his eyes at Cicero. He also flashed a quick smile to let him know there were no real hard feelings.
His palm-pilot vibrated in his jeans pocket, and he pulled it out to see Michael's message scroll across the screen. He laughed quietly, happy to of been of help in the hack.
Re-attaching his watch, Fynn noticed that it was at last lunch time. Surely enough, the tone for the end of the lesson sounded and Professor Wong dismissed the class. Gathering his books into his rucksack, he slung it over his shoulders as he walked out of the classroom. He would eat at the hall with the rest of the school, but was anxious to get out into the plains. The open wasteland was the perfect escape for him, he could manipulate his field with as much power and intesity as he wanted to without fear of damaging anything or anyone.
He made his way to the dining hall.

Zaen extended his telepathy, taking in buzzing tunes, historical facts and interesting gossip from his classmates. He quickly picked up on what he had missed and relayed the facts to Alex, who ginned, unable to reply telpathically.
Noticing the neophyte, he sent a quick message of welcome to Kamala.
-Hey there. Don't often get new blood round here, thought I'd say hi. Nice top, by the way.-
he sacnned a little deeper, but was careful not to become intrusive. It was easy enough to divine her mutation, and send her an image of a raging inferno playing on the ocean surface.
-Don't be ashamed, we're all human here, except for this muscle-bound sasquatch beside me- indicated jokingly to Alex.
-Nearly everyone here will help you explore your potential. Just keep an eye n your valaubules around Cicero and be careful turning round corners when Flynn's nearby. I'm Zaen, and my friend here's Alex-
The lesson continued for another half hour or so. The topic concerned the Great Wars, which only fifty years ago devasted the planet, destorying grteat nations and forcing humanity into isolated settlements, such as Haven, the nearest town. Wong explained sadly that communication over long distances was only possible by those settlements that still possed digital technology such as Haven did, bu they were few and far between, and that there were many barbaric outposts spanning the land mass of North America which they were situated on.
The lesson concluded with the observation that already travellers, preachers and pioneers were scouring the earth for ancient ruins and discovering new settlements of their fellow men, and even new aspects of their fellow man, as physical and mental mutations seemed to become more frequent with every generation.
Once it was over, Zaen could feel his arms growing heavy, a sign that his durgs were wearing off and that he would soon be reduced to a weakling again. He quickly porduced a needle and injected the serum into his veins. He couldn't afford to relax on the stuff now.
Alex, who had been looking pretty glum throughout the lesson, now perked up and flexed and stretched in anticipation. His favourite lesson was coming up. He was at the door in a flash and beckoned to Zaen, 'Come on, dude. Let's get to the dojo already!'
Zaen wasn't in a hurry, though the serum took effect almost immediately. He was a keen martial artist himself, but there was no real point in getting there before the others.

Shade had half listened to the lesson and had decided that it was time to ues her other sense. All of her senses where very hyper active and very senitive at times. The girl in the purple top smelled of smoke and it was very hard not to focus on her. "God, she going to think I'm a freak or that I like chicks, Well it own fault that she didn't shower and smells like smoke either that or she smokes." Shade thought to her self. Shade was very happy to sitting in the back of the class so she could watch her new class mates. But then the memories came back to that night when her inner beast was free. "Why can't I be free of this?" she thought. "Must pay attention" She knew one way to make her self start to focus on the class but it was going to hurt for a bit at least. She took her pencil and pushed it through her hand and coughed to hide the grund of pain. As she pulled the pencil out her hand heal instancelly. Shade started to pay some attention to the very boring history class. Soon class was over and she could go to the dojo and be a little more relaxed

Zero glanceed up from his Gameboy when the tone rang, blowing a long whistle as he put the Gameboy back in his jacket. He got up slowly and pulled out the bokken from it's sheath on his back. Twirling it about a few times, he smiled at it's fine balance. Instead of heading to the lunchroom like the rest, he headed to the dojo. He pulled off his shoes, jacket, and shirt before he entered, showing his dark green tanktop with an oriental dragon on it's back. Silently he placed his items in the far corner and sat down in meditative form, his bokken laying on his lap. He smiled as he began to lose himself in his contemplations...

Alex stepped through into the dojo and amde for the changing rooms. Zaen hung back, flexing, stretching and practicing kata to make sure he was up to full strength. The intructors, Jax adn Noriko, taught many styles from acorss the ages, but he favoured a combination of jujutsu and wing chun techniques for his personal practice.
Alex emerged in a loose jacket and trousers. He preferred the styles that used his size and strenth to their fullest advantage, particularly brazilian jujitsu and sambo wrestling techniques.
He winked at Zero before beginning his warm up. It was well known that Alex and Zero were the two most talented and enthusiastic martial artists, and rivals for the master's praise. However, it was direvn by healthy respect for each other's skills, rather than contempt.
It was five mintues before the intructors arrived. Jax, the proud, massive negro, and Noriko, a lithe and acrobatic japanese.
Jax began, 'We appreciate the extra time you guys are putting into this. Don't worry, you'll make it back in time to catch lunch being served too. I only wish everyone was as dedicated as those of you here. To show our appreciation, we've got a little something for each of you after this extra lesson, but we'll wait till we're done to show you. Rememebr that I cannot stress enough the importance of self defence these days when every settlement is surrounded by badlands, with their own threats of bandits and feral mutant creatures.'
Noriko stepped forward, having finshed tying back her. 'You old windbag,' she declares affectionately, giving Jax a light jab to the chest. 'Let's get the sparring started with. Each of you can choose any opponent in this room, including Jax and me, and make choice of weapons, if desired. Seeing as Zero got here first, he gets first choice.'

Zero smiled and opened his eyes, standing up slowly as he placed his bokken next to his things. He looked at them all, contemplating for a moment. Walking slowly, he stopped in front of Noriko. "Shall we see if your 'Wangjutsu' can beat my 'Heaven Dragon', Mistress Nariko?" As he spoke he assumed his favored stance, his left foot extended forward. His left arm angled down in front of his stomach and his right arm angle upwards, stopping beside his face.
~Let's see if I can perform the Rising Ten-Ryu correctly this time...~ He glanced at Alex, ~I'll challenge him later on, near the tranquility pond at the far side of the yard. The trees will make exellent shade afterwards... FOCUS!~
He halfway smiled as he waited for her to get ready.

Shade ran into the dojo and then ran to the changeing rooms. She hurrilyed got into the skin tight black cat siut and then got on the loose pants and top and ran out to the room. She heard the instuctors say that they could chose and sparring patner and weapons. Shade looked at the people in the room and decide the big guy would have to down.
"Alex is it would you like to spar? As for weapons I don't really like any of them, but if you need one go for it" After she said that she got into a crane stanceready to leap in the air to take the big guy by surprize.

Fynn sat down and ate quietly. He felt somewhat isolated, with nearly all of the other students spending their lunch in the dojo. He went on occasion, and attended all of the defense lessons in the regular time-table; but his passion for the art was not as strong as some of the other members'. He longed for open space where he could let loose. Tidying his plate away, Fynn made for the school's main entrance. He strode through the large door frame into the cultivated gardens outside. He kept moving, making for the outer wall - a concrete structure several metres thick that towered into the sky. Fynn pulled his goggles up over his eyes, allowing himself to look into the eternal sky now that the tented lenses protected his eyes from the sharp sun beams that pierced the cloud cover.
Fynn approached the last post in the academy. A single entrance guarded by 2 sentinel turrets whose barrels were constantly fixed on the opening. Fynn walked through calmly, knowing that the guns had been programmed to ignore the staff and students. Standing outside, he fired up his energy field. Concentrating hard, Fynn increased the intensity and frequency of his pulsating aura. He outstretched his arms and blasted off into the sky. His field fluctuated wildy, the colour and motion of the energy changing constantly as it passed through different wavelengths. He was flying at an amazing speed and as fast as he could. The only way of seeing him was to follow the trail of arcing electricity he left in his wake. Fynn gritted his teeth, he was pushing as hard as he could. This was his training. His aura could only grow in strength as his body became more and more accostomed to it, and he practised daily to hone his control over the wild energies. He let out a scream as he reached his tolerance level, and still he pushed on until the field flickered and burnt out.
In freefall, Fynn allowed his body to relax. Enjoying the calm of the skies, he reccupereated as he plummeted an enormous distance. As he approached the ground he sparked up again and pushed downwards with both hands. Furious energy shot vertically to the ground, slowing his decent. Fynn kept injecting more and more energy into the dry Earth, where it collected and crackled furiously in an expanding cloud. A few feet before he hit, he stopped and let himself drop. The energy dispersed immediately, and he landed and rolled with his momentum. He lay outstretched for a while, taking in deep breaths to calm his body.
Eventually he sat up and took in his surroundings. He could see something in the distance, coming towards him. He got to his feet to have a better look.

"Whoa! That was awesome!" Cicero yelled, running up to him. "I wish I could do something that cool! Like Superman! All I can do is look around corners and stuff."
"It looked like maybe it was scary, though... I don't think going that fast that high would sit well with my stomach."

Kamala was shocked to have someone invade her mind; especially when they tried to suss out her mutation. She pushed away the thoughts of the past which haunted her mutation and smiled to herself and thought:
~Thanks for the welcome Zaen I'm Kamala,....... but I'm not sure that most people understand my plight,....to not like my mutant abilities. I'm sure that they'll jump to the wrong conclusions.~ She sighed inwardly and returned to taking notes.
After the lesson had finished she was kept behind for some further talking from the Professor, apparantly she had a phone call waiting for her, but not before he commended her on being able to catch up so quickly on the topic.
The phone call was brief and to the point, she decided to head for the lunch room to eat, and then remained there sitting at her table reading a book.
~Hmmmph, so much for the warm welcome.....~Closing her book she chose not to remain her familure self and walked around the school; to get her barings and also to see where the practice ground was.
The day was quite warm....but she still wore those long and unrevealing clothes, but she wasn't bothered about it, and they served a good perpose.

Fynn pulled down his goggles and squinted into the distance, trying to make out the blurry shape moving towards him. His T-shirt flapped in the wind and the dry dust swirled around his feet. Just then he heard someone call out behind him.
Fynn spun around to find Cicero standing there looking excited. He grinned. "It's not too bad, my gut's kinda built up a resistance to it. It stings when I push too hard, though, that's why the field cuts out." He turned back to study the incoming object. He still couldn't see it. "Hey Cicero, can you take a look at what that is over there?" Fynn was starting to get nervous. The wastelands weren't always safe.

Alex grinned and he sized up Shade. They both had the regeneration factor, but he was certain that she was more agile and faster then he, though he had the advantage of size and strength. 'Let's go' he agreed, circling her with his guard up, it was plain that he was waiting for the first move.
OOC:You can react to actions and take actions of your own in the sparring bouts, but cannot control the NPC's reactions.
kJax laid down the rule, 'Okay, this is learning, not competition, so no using powers and don't be afraid to experiment. The winner is the first to score three clean hits or or pin for twenty seconds.' He acted as referee and emergency first aid if needed.
Noriko wasted no time, she could strike hard and fast and she knew it. She shot into his Zero's threat zone, turning and attempting to sweep his ankle.
Zaen, seeing as there was no one to spar against at the moment, decided to have a look and see what was happening outside. As he entered the hallway, he noticed Kamala, apparently wandering aimlessly.
'If sorry if I surprised you back in class, it's just that I've found it helps before to break the ice when it comes to powers early on, and that's the best way to reveal myself.' he wondered whether he had offended her before, and decided not to scan her thoughts just in case he had. 'Are you hungry? We could get something to eat. Or maybe you'd like to see our dojo, there's some good excercises going on now, but I'm left without a sparring partner at the moment.'

While Zaen was talking to kamala in the hall, an unexpected encounter took place in the wasteland. Fynn saw it first, what looked like a lone horseman apporacheing. As it neared, he could make out that it it was a japanese man mounted on a horse, resplendant in what appeared to be red powered carapace armour, ornate in design and certainly a rarity, as the secrets of it's production wre believed lost. The man had a great nodachi strapped to his back, with a banner, and he seemed to be listening intently to a crude radio at his ear.

As Kamala roamed the corridors she met Zaen once again.
"Oh don't worry about it." She smiled. "Umm....it's well just that, I haven't been around so many people before with abilities......*sighs*...plus I haven't exactly had my powers long." She was obviously nervous but was trying her best to make friends.
"I've ate actually, but thanks for the invite." She frowned, "Dojo,....do you mean sparring with your powers?" She looked eager to fight but still quite uneasy, she must have had some trouble with others back at home as she was a mutant and therefore wasn't confident with showing her talents to others. "I don't have anyone here to 'spar' with,.....if you're looking for an easy oponent I'm it."

Shade watch Alex circle her never taking her eyes off him and saw that he had a good defenceive stance.
"Nice stance but your not going to win in fact, neither of us may win, but I'll get the first and last strike." Shade said with a small smile on her face, "I just hope you don't bruise easy. I would hate to ruin your pretty face.
With increildble speed Shade aims a closed fist strike at Alex but starts to feel her blades start to pop out and pulls back and changes her momentum and does a back flip standing four feet away from Alex with 12 inch bone blades three from each hand. "Sorry didn't mean for that to happen" blades go back into her hands, "lets see we try again but you go first"
