I'm really annoyed. My DM tries to force magic items on my paladin. I kinda like the effect this has had on the game so far, but now he's playing dirty. During last night's game, he destroyed my pally's sword 2 times again (thank Helm for the good weaponsmith we have), his lance and now I have the feeling he's going after the rest of his gear. Nobody else got their gear wasted.
The pally's only 10th level, and the only items of magic he has used to this day are healing potions and the suit of +1 full plate he wears (it was forced on him by his church - the DM told me it would be a bad political move to decline the honor of accepting the gift).
It's not like he needs all that magic crap anyway - his sword is (or was) of masterwork quality, and made of cold iron to boot, he can cast 'magic weapon' or 'bless weapon' on it if he needs to, or 'protection from evil' to gain some extra protection in combat, he has high charisma, so his saves are allright, and has divine and martial feats to enhance his skills. It is my call if I don't want any of those items on my character (the pally feels magic might lead to arrogance *heheh* or make him use nondivine magic as a crutch - after all, it's just foul sorcery), and I really want to see how everything works with minimal use of magic.
What should I say to my DM so he gets this?

Yes. Explain to him why you don't want to use magical items. It sounds like a great roleplaying reason to me. And tell him it seems to you like he's trying to force magical items on you. If he still tires to force them on you once you've explained your thoughts to him, though, there's not much you can do except roleplay it to the extreme (refuse to use magical weapons even though all your normal weapons are gone... just use punch and grapple attacks instead, or only cast spells during a fight).

Well you could asking/begging him for magic items. Eventually he will become feed up with your whining/requesting and start taking magic items from you, there problem solved. Okay seriously I think Merkuri is right that you talk with him. And if he doesn`t get it, you could start throwing away your magic items just prove a point.

The whole party consists of paladins (5 in total) - others seem to like their magic stuff just fine. I suppose my DM just wants my pally to 'keep up' with others' gear. I know he doesn't force the magic stuff on my char just to annoy me, and my pally has always taken his share of treasure (donating all to charity, save a handful of gold pieces here and there). So far the charity tally is around 40 000 gps and the paladins are gaining some reputation with this (somone must have blown the whistle).
I have talked about this with him, and told him about the character's beliefs. It hasn't helped so far. I just want to offset the unfair edge my character's high stats have given him over the others and I kinda like the skill over magic thing I have going there.

Had a nice conversation with my DM. I hate doing this, but it looks like I have to take the Ancestral relic feat, just to ease his mind. it's not like the relic is magic or anything, (and it gives a chance to spend some of the hard-loot... earned gain on the pally). Somehow I feel that I'm still screwed (or going for the Anointed knight PrC).
This is me getting frustrated. It's not like there are too many feats avaliable for my pally (but I have 2 more levels until the next one, maybe i can figure something out by then). It doesn't feel like it's our game anymore. It's just DM's game now.

If you really want to avoid magic items, the Forsaker PrC in the Masters of the Wilds might be an interesting path to persue. Though you'd have to give up your spellcasting.

(dislikes that PrC) and it's like you said it. The pally'd have to give up spellcasting. It's not like he hates magic, he just doesn't trust unknown magic. Anything church-sanctified wouldn't be categorized as "foul sorcery", but the pally doesn't want to rely on mere magic trinkets when Pure MindTM and untainted body will do.
And as it is, I'm probably taking the Fist of Raziel PrC or some cleric levels for this one.

Hey I mean if you find something magic you don't want throw it away. As for the games I GM my players whine about how they need more magic items. The reply:
You're third level.
See problems are all solved.
