After defeating a couple of Grell that attacked our camp during the night in the forest, we were approached by a strange man who warned us to cease our activities and to go home. He said that we were just making things worse. We decided to move out and camp elsewhere that night since seemingly everyone seemed to know our location.
During the march to find a different camp site, we encountered a strange woman. She informed us that she was the mate of the male we had seen earlier that night. She did not feel as he did, and promised to reward us with shiny objects and information should we choose to travel to the west and defeat the Grell and destroy their nest. The information she promised would most assuredly aid me in completing my quest for Corean.
Everyone agreed and we moved out seeking the nest of the Grell. When we arrived, we observed 7 Grell over a large nest. Two close to the ground and five more aloft. We moved in close and initiated our attack. The grell were upon us in no time, and during the battle we lost three of our troops to them.
The grell were defeated and a search of the nest garnered nothing. I healed up the survivors of the party, then the nest was burned. Then I turned my attention to blessing and burying the dead. We dug graves for them, held a brief service, and then piled stones over top the filled in graves to keep animals out and mark them. Our magic user also cast a Sigal on the grave as a notification and honor to the brave men who fell that day. May Corean bless their souls.
We proceeded to the home of the two strangers, but only the man was there to greet us. He invited us in for a feast. There were some slight problems with the elven member of our party, but that was soon cleared up. During the meal, the stranger informed us that he was very old and he also acted like a ruler or despot. He filled in much information regarding the mound of the snake men on our map and showed us a less travelled way into the mound. We were also rewarded with several gem stones and some coins for completing our mission to destroy the grell.
It seems we will now head to the swamp lands on the map. Once there, we plan to build some canoes and travel through the swamp to the delta of a river that will take us to the snake men's mound. The other way to the mound seems frought with danger. There are ants in the jungles and lion men in the mountain, so the river seems to be the best way to get there. I hope that we can complete my quest in the near future without the loss of additional lives.

Notes from Kelly to Church Elders
We returned from combatting the grell to the lands of the Tiger Dwarves, where a great celebration was held in our honor. After unloading certain supplies on the ship (including tar for later repairs), we made plans to set out toward the river that leads to the mound of the snake men. We secured the use of 4 canoes and enough supplies to last a while and set off to our destination. This time no marines or crew will go with us as we have decided to travel light and fast.
The trip to the river and up the river was rather uneventful. After spending many long days on our journey, we have arrived at the entrance to a cave exactly as was indicated on our map. This is supposed to be a little or non-used entrance to the plateau of the snake-men. Upon entering the cave, we were beset with a myrid of decisions; basically which way to go. South seemed to be the consensus, and off we headed.
The front of the party bypassed a corridor to our left and proceeded into a larger cavern. There they were confronted by a multitude of screecher mushrooms. While they roared into battle and engaged the mushrooms, I positioned myself at the entrance to the bypassed corridor believing that this would be the source of the most danger.
Within short order, two huge spiders came barrelling out of this corridor. Fortunately, due to my positioning and the fact that I was specifically watching this hall, I was able to partially surprise the creatures and attack them before they could react. The next round Grimnor moved in and him and I killed one of the spiders. The both tried to attack us, but fortunately missed.
The next round Palai came charging into the fray and was bitten by one of the spiders. He suffered a great loss of his strength and came only a hair away from completely dying with 1 strength remaining. However a flaming sphere was cast, and it and Grimnor dispatched the last spider as Palai collapsed to the floor.
While the others still battled the mushrooms, a great roar was heard coming down the hallway and we were beset by a three headed dragon. I moved in front of the downed Palai to try and protect him and cast a Shield of Faith Spell on Grimnor. Grimnor attacked the dragon, while Palai used the opportunity to slowly move away from the creature. Its breath weapons were quite sereve along with its 10 melee attacks per round.
The following round, our magic-user cast a grease spell under the dragon causing it to quickly go down momentarily. Grimnor and I again attacked the creature, and I was in turn attacked back by it causing some minor damage. After several rounds, the creature was disposed of, along with the mushrooms which were destroyed by the flaming sphere that had been used against the spiders.
A search of the area garnered us a fairly expensive irovy carved snake idol. After a day of fighting we decided to rest up. I healed the party, then got some rest. The next morning I prayed to Corean for as many restoration spells as possible and cast them all on Palai. He did not fully recover, but at least he would walk by himself again.
The party continues the exploration of the caverns, this time in the opposite direction since this direction was a "dead end." We found a room with a hot geyser in it. Several party members went inside to explore it, but were soon besieged by 4 small fire demons. The party in the room began attacking the demons and a couple were quickly dispatched. I quickly moved up into spell range, and the next round cast searing light on one of the remaining demons instantly killing it. The final demon was killed immediately after that.
During the battle, the demons hurled firey death at us and our mage took a hit as he stood outside the entrance to the room. He immediately went down to the ground as we killed the last of the evil spawn. He is unconscious and his condition is severly critical. I will administer first aid and healing to him and believe he will be back on his feet in no time at all. We stand at the entrance of this room wondering what on "earth" or "beyond" will try to destroy us next.

I was able to heal the downed magic user and bring him back from the precipe of death. We continued our journey through the caverns and discovered the treasure lair of the dragon we killed. It contained many treasures which we are holding in our packs in case the dragon comes back to get them. If not, then I guess they are ours. Chuckles....
We also explored the cavern...most of which was done by our mage pursuant to a gaseous form spell. We found the exit to the outside leading to the plateau and the mage explored this region as well. He also found a door inside the cave complex which we have yet to explore. The plan is to finish exploring the cavern, rest up, and then explore the plateau the following day.

Well we finally have recovered the artifact (the lost sword shard of Corean). It was recovered after an epic battle inside the temple of the snake men participated in by me, Endil, Palai and Turjan.
According to the plan, Palai and Endil entered the temple via gaseous form spells. I cast several spells on members of the group including myself to aid them prior to entering such as shield of faith, magic weapon, silence on a stone, etc. Turjan and I entered the temple via a window, with Turjan being concealed by a magic ring and myself being invisible from a scroll.
Endil and Palai materialized near the leader, a female snakewoman. They carried a stone with silence cast upon it to mute her spell ability. They instantly slayed her due to surprise before she could act and threw the stone away. Turjan cast a web around the artifact trapping all the other snake men in it and I cast prayer to help us in this epic battle.
Meanwhile, the other party members and dwarves were attacking the proud at the ambush site at the bridge leading from snake city to slave town and elsewhere about the town. Our plan to set the slave's crops on fire worked and the proud went to cross the bridge to investigate. Many dwarves were hurt and some even killed, but thanks to them and the other PCs the proud was subdued by this ambush.
After Palai and Endil killed the snake woman, they proceeded to engage the remaining snakemen. Two of them managed to break free of the web. Meanwhile Turjan kept hurling spells such as glitterdust, color spray and grease. I cast freedom of movement on myself and ran and recovered the artifact.
This artifact was carefully placed into my pack after I cast Obscure Object on it so that it could not be easily tracked via magical or scrying methods. While we wrapped up the remaining foes at the temple, Endil headed to help the others fight the proud at the bridge ambush.
After the temple was secured and all the foes dispatched, Palai, Turjan and myself also went to the bridge ambush to make sure that things there were well in hand. We found that the proud had been conquered and that the dwarves had returned to slave town to lick their wounds. Just as we were about to congratulate each other, we were suddenly set upon by a horrible creature and many additional snake men.
We used practically all of our remaining spells and fighting skills to destroy these pursuers. We lost Fallen in the battle and will give him a proper burial (unless there is some way to bring him back). With most of my spells gone, I plan to heal those that I can and then pray to Corean to communicate the recovery of the artifact. I want to return it to my diety before anything happens to it.
I plan to rest then, recover spells, and get this party and the dwarves back up to full strength as soon possible. Then we can focus on discovering the mysteries of snake city and other more mundane tasks.
I still worry a little that there could be surviving stragglers, so I will recommend that patrols be sent to look for them around and in the city. I also think that we should not let our guard down, and should post guards in the slave town just to be careful. Finally, I have a little concern that some of the snake men may still be in hibernation and might pose a threat in the future.
For now, I want to get the artifact safely in the hands of my diety and recover my long lost domain spells. Then we can again worry about worldly tasks and problems.
Who knows, maybe we might even make snake city a secret base of operations for us in the future if we trade or adventure more in this part of the world?

Yes clearly the absent minded priest, who somehow ended up wearing his boxer shorts on the outside of his suit for the ball. LMAO.
Journal
Back in Mithril now. Ship is safe and unloaded. Attended a grand ball and meet with the High Priest (dicussed the island and possible colonization of it), Champion (dicussed letter of Marque), and High Priestess (small talk and exchanged witty stories).
Travelled back to our abode and will go shopping in Mithril tomorrow. Reports were submitted to the Temple of our trip as soon as I returned to the City. Rested and relaxed some when first got back.
We apparently are becoming better known in the circles of power in Mithril which is exciting. I will talk with my commrades to determine what interesting things they learned at the party.

The party lost a member today due to choking on a bone, but we added a new member (Apostas). We have gained our letter of Marque from Champion Barconius. We have met with Joharus Kend of the Benjurian Vigil (in charge of naval matters) and he showed us maps of the region and briefed us on naval matters.
We have also done some shopping and pricing of ship items. We selected new officers and also divided up the treasure and profits from our last voyage. Reports of these matters have been sent to the Temple of Corean and also informally to my mentor.

A new day has arisen, and the winter Blood Storms are still plaguing Mithril now. I received a message that I am to be promoted by the High Priest to the position of Defender of Corean (similar to journeyman). Evelyn attended the ceremony with me, while Palai was off....well....um....relaxing shall we say.
After the ceremony, we returned home and Palai said that he had run into Captain Alana of the City Watch. She wants to meet with us tomorrow morning at 9 bells. The party agreed to divide up two magic items - Palai receiving the Amulet of Natural Armor and myself receiving the Brooch of Sunlight. Evelyn picked up her new Mithral Breast Plate Armor and will later have it enchanted.
The next day we met with Captain Alana. She wants our help to find out what happened to the missing wizard whose house is locked up and cannot be opened. We are to be compensated well if we can find out what happened to him and also will receive his home as our headquarters if he is no longer alive or around. We can also keep any items we find if he is no longer alive as well.
We went to meet with the List Mistress Silverheart to discuss what she knows about the wizard, his assistant and his work. We found out that he was working on golems and that his raven familiar has been seen coming and going from his abode. We acquired 4 potions of gaseous form with the ship's money. They will be used by us in case we need to escape quickly from the wizard's home. If they are not used, then they will become part of the ship's equipment.
Myself, Palai, and Evelyn have entered the home of the wizard in gaseous form courtesy of gaseous form spells cast by Turjan and have gotten a feel for it's general layout. We met back up inside the front door and have begun to explore the first room with Apostas who arrived on the scene.
I cast shield of faith on myself and entered the first room of the wizard's house. Immediately I was attacked by a golem, but was unhit. As each party member entered the room (except Apostas who cast mage armor on himself), I cast shield of faith on them.
We fairly quickly dispatched the golem due to a rotating attack conceived of by Palai which kept each attacker constantly in a flanking position. Quite an ingenious plan by the swordsman. Evelyn was the only one hurt and after the battle I cured her wounds back up to almost full strength with the Wand of Cure Light Wounds.
I have used 3 Shield of Faith Spells and one Find Traps Spell so far. We will continue with the search of the wizard's home and will try to solve the mystery of his disappearance.

We have searched the wizard's home, but found him dead. His spirit was restless and possessed different members of our party in order to allow the completion of this final project, a guardian golem.
It appears that the house is to be ours, so fortunately Evelyn did not burn it down during the night or use a battering ram on the tower. The wizard cast a mass suggestion spell on Palai and I forcing us to prevent anyone from our party from reaching the top of the tower until his work was completed. No one was hurt in that conflict.
This mass suggestion spell was later dispelled by the List Mistress when she arrived. We will give the wizard and his assistant proper burials and report our activities to the Captain of the Watch as well as my Church. We have already given a report to the List Mistress. The bulk of the house remains yet unexplored, but I have called first dibs on the Master Bedroom (LOL).

SHIPS LOG
Conducting an initial shake down voyage of the S.S. Tally. Things were noticeably rough as we have a completely new crew and new officers. The more time that went by, the better everyone fit into their new roles. Marines are practicing for combat.
Encountered merchant ship. Passed on. Wished her well.
Encountered pirate ship. Engaged and hit the pirate ship with a lightning bolt. Picked up approximately 50 survivors. Have them locked up and will return them to the Mithril authorities. Pirate ship quickly sinking. May try to salvage what we can.

Ships Log
We are about a week or so out of Mithril. The Captain of the Pirate ship told us a tale of a group of Wrack Dragons who are having (possibly forcing) a Steel Giant to create weapons. They are located on an island outside the normal shipping lanes in the region we are currently in.
In exchange for this information and oaths by the captain and crew not to engage in piracy, etc., we set them free along an abandoned shoreline with food, water and weapons. The captain also provided us with information on the island, dragons, giant and prepared us a magic mock-up of the island.
We have sailed to a nearby port of Hedrad to buy food, steel and other provisions and trade goods. The ship is anchored in the harbor. We have also hired a guide in town not to run afoul of their strict laws. Soon we sail for the island of the Steel Giant.
The Dwarven sargent of the marines is starting to stand out from the group. I am keeping my eye on him with keen interest as he may prove to be a worthy addition to the Fists of the Dragon. Soon we will truly earn our name as we take on the monsterous Wrack Dragons with their horrific high intelligence.
