Essential Oil Calming Ritual
Color of the day ~~~ Yellow Incense of the day ~~~ Cinnamon
Fresh patchouli reminds me of moist, rich, hummus-filled earth. It grounds and energizes at the same time. It’s a good oil to grab when life is full of chaos and I start to get a little frazzled around the edges. Check out an aromatherapy book for other essential oils that calm and ground, then go to the nearest New Age or health food store to see which of the oils you are drawn to. This is important: Do not just go by what the book says. You want to choose a scent that appeals to your own senses. Also, pick up a bottle of grapeseed oil and an empty glass bottle. Fill the empty bottle with an ounce of grapeseed oil and twenty to forty drops of your chosen essential oil. As you mix the two, inhale the scent and envision it calming your stressed emotions. Set your bottle on the windowsill in the moonlight for a night to absorb the Moon’s calm energies.

A Kitchen Spell for Harmony
Color of the day ~~~ Ivory Incense of the day ~~~ Frankincense
A kitchen is a very special place in the home. Food sustains a family, and when prepared with love food satisfies more than mere hunger. A kitchen should be filled with caring thoughts and with harmony—what begins here spreads throughout the rest of the home. Use this charm to bless your kitchen. At twilight, create a personal sacred space by mixing a pinch of allspice, one sprig of dried and crumbled basil, nine coriander seeds, five juniper berries, half a teaspoon of dried lavender, and one teaspoon salt. Pour the mixture into a small dish or jar. Place a stone (a geode, moonstone, or quartz) in the center of the mixture, and set the dish in the kitchen someplace where it won’t be disturbed.

New Year New Wand Spell
Color of the day ~~~ Scarlet Incense of the day ~~~ Musk
The Full Moon this month is called the Chaste Moon. What would you do if you could have a clean slate? Artemis/Diana, the Moon goddess of chastity, independence, and feminine strength, is the solitary huntress who teaches us to fend for ourselves. The trees sacred to her are hazel, hawthorn, myrtle, and willow. Call to the east, as this direction signifies dawn and new beginnings. Search for a tree sacred to Artemis and cut a wand for yourself. Ask permission of the tree, and do not cut any more than the small branch you need. Leave an offering behind worthy of the sacrifice: a coin, a crystal, nuts, incense resin. Craft your wand with magical intention, imbuing it with the qualities of the goddess by meditating on her. If you keep the bark on your wand, attach a crystal, ribbon, leather, or other decoration; if you strip the bark off, polish it with oil. Each time you use your new wand, imagine Artemis imparting her blessings of courage and capability to you.

Pre-Spring Cleaning Ritual
Color of the day ~~~ Topaz Incense of the day ~~~ Cedar
What is cluttering up your home, both literally and metaphorically? Now is a good time to clear your home of clutter and to clear whatever blocks your progress. Begin with your altar. Is it cluttered? Clear it, put down a fresh altar cloth, and place a new white candle on it. Take a cleansing bath or shower with sage, lavender, or hyssop, chanting “Pure, pure, I am pure” as you bathe. (Purity was very important to the priests and priestesses in ancient times.) At dusk, light the candle. Look into the candle flame and meditate on its solitude and purity. Feel burdens slip off your shoulder, and open the shades so you can see the Moon. Promise the Moon and Virgo the Virgin that you will focus on what is important in life and remove whatever is blocking you. Set aside the time between the Full and New Moon to clear clutter from your life.

Love and Confidence Spell
Color of the day ~~~ White Incense of the day ~~~ Nutmeg
Recreate yourself as a god or goddess of love and confidence today. After your shower or bath, spritz yourself with rose water, or moisturize using glycerin and rose water. While the steam clears, stand before your mirror and draw a heart around your image, visualizing a deep rose-colored light filling the heart and reflecting back to merge with your energy. Say to yourself:
I am confident and filled with love. I attract confident and loving people. My day will bring me abundant love.
Periodically throughout the day, take a brief moment to remember this image and this feeling. Visualize a rose light surrounding you and filling you with a sense of contentment all day. Treat the people you meet as if they were loved ones, and see how they respond.

Clean Your Well Spell
Color of the day ~~~ Yellow Incense of the day ~~~ Cedar
Today, in many parts of Europe, Holy Wells Day is celebrated. This festival is dedicated to Ceadda, the Nordic goddess of holy wells and healing springs. Traditionally, on this day wells were cleaned. It would be unrealistic to expect you to find a well and stand neck-deep in muck and water, as was done in pre-Christian times, just for this quick meditation ritual. Instead, why not celebrate this festival with a contemporary approach? Dedicate this day to honoring your creative life force. Make an offering of flowers on your altar. Undertake a symbolic cleansing. If you live near mineral springs, wash your face and hands in the water. Take a drink of invigorating mineral water, and continue to drink it throughout the day. In the morning, state this affirmation:
Beginning today, I will nurture my life force by drinking clean water to maintain a healthy body.

Remembering Saint Joan
Color of the day ~~~Ivory Incense of the day ~~~ Rose
She was a French peasant girl who became known to the world as Joan of Arc. On this day in France in 1431 she was burnt at the stake by the English. Known for the visions that told her to help liberate her country from the English, St. Joan was eventually brought to trial on charges of witchcraft and religious heresy. The witchcraft charges were dropped, but the charges of religious heresy eventually led to her execution. The Vatican, however, pronounced her innocent in 1456, and she was declared a saint in 1920. Today, St. Joan would have been called a psychic or visionary. Her life serves as an example of how psychic abilities have been misunderstood over the centuries. Understandably, she is friend and patron of soldiers. And on a deeper level magical people identify with her as the embodiment of the warrior goddess aspect.
