"Remember, remember the five of November" Yes fireworks night has come and gone again. For all u none British nationals Guy Fawkes was an anachist who was planning to blow up the Houses of Parliament (Yeessss) and kill hundreds of people in the process (Boooooooooh). And we celebrate the fact (its a funny old world) Anyway the point of this thread. It is now the 13 November and the f@#^%$ things are still going off. I like fireworks on 5th November but the rest of the time they are a noisy, annoying pain in the prevebial. And they sell them to under 16's (which is illegal) who make a general nuisance of themselves by firing them into people's bedrooms etc.... They shouldn't be available to members of the public at all and then there wouldn't be any problems, just proffessionaly organised events. Rant, rant, rant

You say you're British but you sung it wrong!
It's: fifth of November not five!
I'm British actually, by the way.

No I didn't mean you, I meant the dumb British "Garat Jax" who shouldn't have made that mistake if he was ranting about being English. Don't apologise Slag, I'm sorry you thought I was moaning at you. *Bows* Do forgive me!

To answer Sharess' questionwww.bonefire.org/guy/On the night of November 5th, throughout Britain, bonfires are set alight, effigies are burned, and fireworks are set off. The people do this to commemorate their country's most notorious traitor: Guy Fawkes --------------------------------------------------------------- But to Garat's complaint about the fireworks, it's like Fourth of July in the United States. It's just a one day celebration, but the fireworks go on for days and days, and nights......trying to get some sleep here.....nights.

I wasn't actually ranting about being English, I was ranting about fireworks. Sorry, mistyped it. Doh!! Reason for mentioning Guy Fawkes was to give a reason for the rant about fireworks rather than as a discussion of the history of the event. The thread was really a rant about the dangers of fireworks and the irresponsibilty of people selling them to underage youths and private displays which are not properly run.
