In this thread I shall periodicly post recipes from my favorite book.
The first is "Divinity Fudge"
2 c. sugar 1/2 c. corn sirup 1/2 c. water 3/4 c. candied cherries 2 egg whites 3/4 c. blanched almonds 1 tbs almond or lemon extract
Put the sugar, water, and corn sirup into a saucepan. Stir it while it dissolves over the fire, then let it boil without stiring to the light-crack stage (265° F). while it is cooking, beat the whites of eggs stiffly and when the sirup is ready pour it over them, beating constantly. Beat until creamy, add nuts, cherries, and extract, and pour into buttered tins.
"Maple Divinity Fudge" Follow preceding ricipe, using in addition 1/2 c. maple sirup.

I should note that the book I am getting these recipes from is 60 years old. Johnnycake 2 cups cornmeal 1 ½ teaspoons salt 1 teaspoon baking soda 2 tablespoons sugar 2 cups sour milk (use ¼ teaspoon vinegar to 2 cups whole milk because homoginized milk goes rancid, not sour.) 2 eggs beaten 2 tablespoons melted shortening Sift dry ingredients together and add milk, eggs, and shortening. Mix well. Pour into greased pan and bake in hot oven (400° F) 30 minutes. Makes 1 8x10 inch loaf.

In the next two posts are a couple of "recepies" I found that are kinda cute.
PERFECT HUG 2 people 4 arms 2 heart A touch of love 1 pinch of humor 1 sprinkle of glee
Extend arms and wrap them around each other. Clear your minds, take a look at each other, then pull yourselves together and mix well. Serves 2.

A BIBLICAL RECIPE FOR EFFECTIVE CHILD TRAINING 1 gallon faith in God 7 cupfuls love for your child 1 cup patience 1 cup clarified instruction 1 cup consistent discipline (whipped lightly) 3 teaspoons of pure mercy 1 generous dash of humor 2 cupfuls praise 2 cupfuls liberty
Pour faith in God into any size family. Mix one teaspoon of clarified instruction and one teaspoon of consistent discipline. Add only a half cup of liberty initially. Stir well and chip lightly. Sprinkle in pure mercy and simmer over a steady flame of prayer. Proceed to fold in additional teaspoons of instruction and discipline, in equal amounts, adding liberty slowly. Stir well and whip as needed to smooth out any lumps of disobedience. Never overbeat! Sweeten to taste with humor and praise. Melt any specks of misunderstanding or sour attitude by turning up the level of prayer and adding extra instruction. Continue this process until all remaining ingredients have been added and all bitterness has been removed. When adding the last cup of liberty, be careful not to cause any sudden separation or foaming. If either of these occur, or if the moral character begins to lose its intended shape, skim off the excess liberty until the desired consistency results. Try adding this liberty again later when character is firmer. Keep warm over a steady flame of prayer. Serve with a tender heart and the sincere milk of God's Word. Never serve with a cold shoulder or a hot tongue.
