Spec sees that K'zan is trying to move and so he pulls himself toward the bars in an attempt to try and scrunch himself against them to give K'zan some more room to maneuver. "Something is approaching behind us..." he whispers to the others.

Canderous withdraws his sword once again, and stands ready. He tries to focus on the sounds to get a better idea on what it is.

Spec and K'Zan try to manuever around simultaneously, talking to each other to synchronize their movements. Within a few seconds, Spec manages to contort his body enough to allow K'Zan to squeeze his head free from between Spec's knees. The three of you are squeezed so tightly together that you can easily bump thighs of the person in front of you with your head.
Upon hearing the clicks from behind him, Canderous instinctively goes for his sword, but finds it nearly impossible to move here in the tight tunnel, let alone draw his massive weapon. The most the burly warrior could hope for was to draw a dagger and stab straight backwards between his legs.

"We need to get out of here. We won't last in a battle. K'zan, do you have anything which might assist in freeing these bars? Magic?" Spec runs his finger along the indented lines along the cross bars, toying with them; picking at them. And at the plate in the middle, seeing if there is some way to either remove the plate, or......SOMEthing...

'I have no direct means of opening it. If only we had space, then maybe... But it is up to you, I'm afraid.'
K'Zan fingers his prayer beads and mutters to himself, again.

Spec runs his fingers along the grille, looking for weakness. The bars seem rigid enough, but the metal plate at the center seems quite weak, and could probably be broken off with a swift blow from a sledgehammer, or some delicate drilling with his thieves picks.
The clicking sound seems to almost be upon the three of you before it stops all of a sudden. It then resumes in a slow scratching sound, very perceptibly against the rock wall. Canderous feels a sharp tug on his ankle.

Spec feels the weak plate and quickly searches himself for something with which to pry it off with. He fumbles for his lock picks and attempts to use them to try to get the plate off. If they do not work, he gets out one of his daggers and attempts to pry it off with that.

Canderous lets out a quick grunt as he feels the strange pain. He feels around with his other foot to try to figure out what it was.

Spec deftly reaches behind his back, pulling out a small pick with a sharp drill bit from his kit. Aiming at a rusty wedge on the plate, he begins to hack away at it, chipping the damaged metal away as if it were soft wood. Within a few minutes, most of the plate is gone and Spec manages to pry off the rest with a strong blow from the pick. Under the plate, an odd, circular lock is implanted into the grille. Looking at it now, it appears that the grille is actually divided into four quadrants that can be pried or pulled apart after removing the lock.

Canderous instinctively kicks at his ankle, probing it. After making a quick search by feel, he discovers nothing. He sits still for a few moments, listening to Spec hammering away at something up ahead. As soon as the hammering stops, though, Canderous feels another tug on his ankle, this one far stronger and nearly causing him to loose his footing. He hears a quick series of metallic clicks coming from directly behind him.

Canderous, confused by whats going on tries to explain whats happening to his companions. "Something very wierd is happening. Something is making me trip but nothing seems to be there except the clicking, which is getting closer quickly. No extra pressure intended Spec, but whatever is going on is getting worse fast. The worst part being that I am not sure what it is."

Trying to drown out what is going on behind him, Spec studies the lock mechanism before him. He reaches around producing a tool from his set of lockpicks then stops with the tool an inch away from the mechanism. He peers at the lock checking for anything which might trigger a trap or alarm. If he finds something, he will attempt to disarm it, then, if successful, try to pick the lock. Either way he will try to pick it.

Spec pokes at the lock with a slim probe, trying to feel for a pressure plate, but doesn't notice anything of the sort on the lock. In fact, the lock itself seems poorly maintained, and could probably be ripped out of the socket as easily as it could be picked.

Spec notices how pathetic the lock's condition is and decides to just start banging at it with the pommel of his dagger hoping to break it.

Spec's dagger cracks the lock after a few sound blows, and he has no difficulty in poking the pieces out of the hole. The grille continues to press tightly down on Spec's face as he pushes away the four quadrants, forcing the metal to recede into the surrounding wall. The light in the tunnel ahead of you seems to be dimmer, now, though it is still there.
