Linus eyed the file and the swiftly counting clock.
He opened the word document and saved a copy to a floppy disc he had discretely put in the floppy drive - he gave the document a quick scan - wanting to see if there was anything more he could glean from the site.

The document seemed to be loading up rather slowly,.....the sheer size of the document was enormous....
The clock kept ticking,
1.05
not long left......
The document may not load up in time, and Linus must have all the necessary codes to access this site in his own time after work......
But,.....what will happen when the clock stops ticking?

From how slowly the document was loading he guessed it wasn't going to fit on his floppy disc. He had the codes, he could get in anytime he wanted, but something stopped him from pulling out - he had always had a curious nature.
He watched the seconds slowly tick down - there wasn't really anything else he could do now.
He would pull out at the last second if the document didn't load, he decided - although he was still torn to stay and see what happened - he double checked quickly to make sure he had all of the codes - then waited to see if the document would beat the timer.

The document continued to load up....
The clock was getting even shorter now, he was running out of time;
0.36......

Linus watched the clock tick slowly down… 3…2…1… Lights began to flash and a piercing siren rendered the previously silent air asunder. Linus cursed reaching for his gun, hidden under his arm in its holster. He stood wheeling round to face the guards who were beginning to run towards him. He fired twice felling a couple of them – a perfect dead aim as the metal slugs sank into their brains. He kicked out behind him as one of the other workers ran up behind him to try and stop him – Linus’ foot sent the man to the ground. Linus was dead. He knew it – he was starting a gunfight in the middle of one of Umbrella’s HQ’s. He felled another pair of guards that had rushed in and he paused to scoop up one of their semi-automatic weapons – which he used to destroy several of the computers and their users in the room. He collected his belongings and the disc, which had finally finished collecting the data – 30 seconds too late. He turned again to come face to face with a horde of people – scientists, guards, janitors, and civilians… But something was wrong. They were all riddled with bullet holes… and they were still standing, and walking towards him. A hungry gleam in their eyes. He raised his gun, but they fell from nerveless hands. Fear overtook him as his eyes fell on a digital clock. But it was counting… backwards? 0.24… 0.23… 0.22…
Linus blinked and snapped out of his reverie noticing that the “clock” was actually the timer on the pop up screen on his computer. He rubbed his eyes then frowned.
“Screw it…” he thought resolutely. “I’m staying in.” he waited for the counter to reach the end. Bracing himself for the alarms if they came.

As the clock continued to count down the file still did not load up,.....perhaps it wasn't the file,......but the computer itself?......It was property of Umbrella corporation after all, it might be preventing this file from loading up in some way.
Nevertheless, the clock continued until finally;
0.03
0.02
0.01
...........................................
That was it,.....his computer froze for another second or two before the screen cleared and his work was left facing him on the computer.
No signal, sirens,....nothing?!
What was this all about, was it a joke?
.............
It couldn't be, the computer system he was just on was Umbrella owned everything fit, it couldn't be a fake,......what had he gotten himself into?

Linus cringed as the computer stopped and displayed his work. He was still tense... what was going on? The machine had left no trace of what had been happening.
He really needed to get out of here. Linus wasn't a man to be scared easily - but the negligence the system was showing, the silence of it all - he would have prefered it if alarms HAD gone off. He collected his disc from the drive and pocketed it then looked around and stretched. He wondered if the guards would let him go for a toilet break - he might be able to get out then.
He glanced at his work uneasily, and made a couple of corrections to some mistakes automatically.
He sighed. What the hell had he got himself in for?! Hadn't he learned anything?

The rest of the day seemed to pass as though nothing had happened, the guards didn't really know what had gone on and no one came to 'take him away' so everything seemed pretty normal.....
Linus was given a few more files to overlook, the boring input codes for all of the DNA sequencing simulations that the Umbrella corporation wanted screening for no bugs or errors,.......
The other people who were working with him joked during their formal coffee break when they were given refreshments in the room they were all situated in.
Something about how boring it must be to fiddle with DNA mappings all day, nothing exciting like they do. One guy even said:
"Some of the things I had to screen were down right daft, I thought for a second they were having a laugh!" He snorted, "Perhaps it was one of their little jokes to make their boring jobs seem worth it!"
However,...after the couple of minutes spent watching for Dr Isabelle Meyers file to download, and Mr Trent's note,.........maybe Umbrella isn't as innocent as it seems after all, and the rumours from America may be true?
The day ended with everyone leaving the building in the same group closely followed by the guards as they led them to the car parks and watched as they entered their cars, mounted their bikes and walked out of range.
The guards went back into the building and were now out of sight, leaving Linus to make his way home.

The rest of the day passed in a slightly nervous blur for Linus - and he only caught parts of the conversation when they were allowed into the refreshments room, he caught things about code screening, kernal compiles and other computer related jargon but paid no notice to it.
Finally they were all let out, and Linus walked to where he had parked his motorcycle. Making sure he had everything, he put his helmet on and mounted his bike and brought it to life. He made his way to the gate, gave one nervous look at the Umbrella building, and sped away.

No one was following Linus as he rode down the motorway towards his home,......it was quite unusual since he had hacked into a Umbrella high security window today,...........perhaps it was a joke?
But it couldn't be,..........it was all too real, and besides who is this Mr Trent?
(OOC - Aylix, please go ahead and post your arrival at home and your descriptions of your abode and events/thoughts. No one will follow you and nothing is planned to happen so it's ok to go ahead.)

Linus pulled off the motorway at his exit and zipped down the busy high streets towards his apartment. He didn't live in a house - but rather a fairly large apartment in a more expensive part of London.
He made his way to his apartment without event - other than stopping to greet a couple of his neighbours.
He entered - slightly cautiously, he knew he hadn't been followed, he had taken the longer way round just to make sure - but still, he couldn't be too careful.
He kicked off his shoes and took off his motocycling leathers in the small hallway, dumped his bag and stuff on the couch in his living room, and made his way to the bathroom. It was quite a nice little flat. 4 rooms - kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and a dining/living room that was taken up by the most part by his widescreen TV and computer. His bedroom had a double bed in it, which he had to himself, that had been there when he moved in. And the other quint essentials in the other rooms - couch, fridge, cooker etc.
Linus washed, walked out into the living room with just his jeans on and a towel around his shoulders, and flipped on his computer. He was determined to find out more about this "Mr Trent."
While he was waiting for his computer to boot he fetched a hot drink, and flipped the TV on to see what was happening in the terrestrial news.

The BBC news channel didn't give much interest,...it was mainly about the growing conflict between the Prime Minister and his cabinet,....not to mention the struggles in America over the elections this year,.....everyone seemed to be busily worried over the politics of the world. The weather put a downer on the program,...forcast rain for the next day and the outlook for the week wasn't too good either...........
The computer was Linus's focus of attention though;
(OOC - Aylix, please post whatever Linus will now do, I didn't want to post your computers boot-up as I imagined it would be personalised to the character.)

Linus muted the TV after hearing about thirty seconds of the ongoing crap between the UK president and the cabinet and the US Elections - pfft... voting, Linus prefered to wipe his backside with toilet paper... not voting ballots. He shrugged off the forcast - he wasn't really that bothered - he wasn't planning on going out much, and he actually quite liked the rain.
Linus sat at his computer as the BIOS skipped through, loading the preliminaries before the login screen appeared.
He tocked in his username and password:
UserName: SamuriJack Password: **********************
and the system logged in.
Linus took a sip of his drink as the various components of startup loaded, and as always Linus blessed his hardware. He easily had the best computer in London, and he needed it - he had a lot of things loading at startup and a smaller config wouldn't have handled it.
He leaned across and flipped on the other two screens so he could browse three things simultaneously, and loaded his music player - cranked the music up loud and immersed himself in the heavy drumlines, piercing guitars and screaming vocalists.
He opened a browser window on each monitor, and slammed his disk into the floppy drive.
In one window he ran a search for:
Umbrella Trent
On his middle screen he opened the disk, preparing to use the codes he obtained to get back into Umbrella's internal servers again, and on the third screen he opened up his mail client to check his email and newsgroups.
His emails contained the usual crap, spam, "enlarge your size" "make orgasms last longer" "see horny girls" he didn't even bothered to open them... he simply made his block list several emails longer. His newsgroups returned nothing new, couple of articles on Microsoft source code that had been leaked - Linus knew that already... he had the leaked source code on a DVD-R in his CD case.
He posted a query on all of his newsgroups asking about what people knew about the "Umbrella Corp" before flicking back to the first screen to see what the searches had come back with.
((OOC Sorry if these scenes are a bit boring... these type of scenes are hard to write interesting. *shoots writers block*))

(OOC - No that was great just the descriptions I was looking for, it wasn't boring at all, it gives me the right impression of the character and surroundings it is very important that you describe things which are important to the character and his surroundings if I want the characters view/interpretation. I'll give you all the details and info you can get from the sites and disk tonight hopefully if I can get my hands on my home computer!)
