Knightslayer Elf Fighter/Mage
It was late afternoon when the dragon finished his current rage over the city of Wilkswood. More of the town was burnt. The people, having become used to this had long been digging a series of warens under what was once a beautiful city. Knightslayer has been summoned to the High Mayor's office under what was once city hall.
Mayor> Knightslayer, as one of the strongest warriors in this village I empower you to go forth and seek other adventureers such as yourself to find and slay that damnable beast.
Knightslayer> I'm sure I can manage to do as you ask, sir. But what fee should I have to offer such noble warriors?
Mayor > A share of half the dragon's treasure. We'll be needing the other half to rebuild our ruined town.
Kinghtslayer > Fair enough sir. I shall see what I can do.
Knightslayer, takes his leave of the mayor and begins the long trek to the next town. A four day journey through Wyvern Wood. He hoped that Aln hadn't been destroyed by the dragon as well, for he know it was a gathering place for adventurers before the dragon came.

Suddenly, a green clothed man, green as leaves from head to toe dropped from a nearby tree, he wore a long bow and a large quarrel of simple, handmade arrows. A short sword also hung from his belt.
"Halt, lone adventurer. I would like to advise you to have a wonderful day but recent events made that difficult. I am Delvin of Aln, and an employed Ranger of these woods you walk, it is my duty to ask of you your buiseness here."
He spoke with politness, yet he had a job to do and sounded firm.

I am traveling to Aln to seek adventurers to battle the dragon that terrorizes my hometown. Is Aln unharmed by this beast, as I hope it is?

"Ahhh, another potential saviour. Yes, you will find a few in Aln I beleive. We have not been completly free of the trouble, just today a a group of our own has been found dead on the outskirts of this region, torn to peices, but alas, our town is still standing, the casualties are low compared to other areas, the beast could have easily took this whole town. I shall escourt you to the favoured Inn of the adventurering type, my day is done here after all."
Delvin now walks with you, his trained eyes scanning the surroundings as he tells you some Alnish history. He stands a shade over 6' tall, his hair is short, slick and black.

Traveling along the road further towards Aln, the two intrepid adventurers come across a burned out campsite, with bodies littering the grounds.
Looks like trouble. Can you see any tracks or did the dragon do this?

Delvin knelt by the ruins and looked worried. He ran his fingers through the soil and looked around. "Nay, certainly not a Dragon... He was spotted in Wilkswood earlier today I beleive. Something is certainly amis here. I suggest we hurry to Aln, where I can alert the town guard, they will atke things from here."

A man appears about 3 metres in front of the adventurers, suddenly, almost as if he had stepped out of thin air. He looks to be in about his late twenties with dark hair and eyes. He wears balc robes trimmed with red and a pair of rune carved bracers. A large book hangs at his side held with chains. He carries a staff.
'Well met, travellers. I am Balthus Dire, a warlock from lands south. I've been staking out this area, for when I returned to camp to see my party slain, and my friends charred, I knew better than to wait in the open. Now I am not so foolish as to assume that you could have caused this carnage, but I couldn't help but overhear something about a dragon?'

Yes, my quest is to seek out hardy adventurers to go against the dragon terrorizing the surrounding territories. Would you care to join us? We may find those responsible for this attack as well.

Waldo Figgensdale looks up the road and sees the wanderers talking amongst themselves by a large tree. Ducking behind the crest of the road and hiding behind a bush, Waldo pulls one of his battle axes from his belt and a war hammer from the bandolier across his back. Quietly as possible, the ranger attempts to approach the group.

Balthus agress readily to join their quest against the dragon, for he has little money and a thirst for vengeance.
However, he senses something amiss, and, focusing his mental energy, dimension doors straight behind the approaching ranger, siezing him by the neck and bringing him out of concealment.
'what's this?' he exclaims, 'a bandit looking to ambush? Or have you come to scrounge what your comrades have left behind! Explain yourself!'
He gestures to the nearby devastation.

Waldo looks up at Balthus and noticing the group with him, drops his weapons and holds his hands up.
No bandit am I, ruffian. However, when I see a group of wanderers talking near such destruction, I take some precautions. he said, quickly but proudly.

Balthus' expression softens, and he shrugs apologetically, looking alittle embarrassed.
'I apologise, stranger. the shame of my comrades death makes me forget myslef. I should not have been so hasty.'
He holds out his hand, 'I am Balthus Dire, mage of Westgate.'

Hello there, fellow traveller. I am called Knightslayer Champion of Wilkswood. I came upon this site, not unlike yourself. I am in this forest on my way to Aln, searching for adventurers to aid me in a quest to slay the dragon that's been terrorizing the nearby lands and has destroyed most of what was once my beautiful home city. I would be honored if, like these others, you would consider joining the quest
Suddenly a hail of arrows flies from the nearby trees, many coming dangerously close to the gathered heroes. Thudding into the burned out caravan and the ground and trees near them.Judgeing by the sheer number of arrows there could be as many as 6 archers in the woods
Drawing his sword and pulling his shield tighter to him, Knightslayer turns to gaze in the direction of the onslaught of arrows, trying to locate the source of the attack. When a second flight of arrows is launched he dives for cover behing the burned out wagon, still trying to ascertain where they are coming from.

Balthus ducks behind light cover and casts a sheild spell. 'behind me!' he calls.

Waldo runs over to Balthus and dives to the ground behind him. Rolling into a crouch, the ranger pulls out a warhammer and readies it to be thrown.
